Looks like beer at Neyland was a success

That's what I said in an earlier post. $12 beers are a market function ensuring those that don't mind paying it have plenty of it available to buy and those that are all butt hurt over it probably shouldn't be drinking anyway. I would imagine most of the complainers probably enjoy a comfortable enough life that spending $50 on some beer at a game isn't going to hurt them but they're just cheap asses wanting something for nothing.

The "riff-raff" you're referring to has already paid for a ticket... rabidly overcharging them for ****** food, clean water, and ****** beer is not solving any issues while they're inside the stadium...

Also, it's difficult to tastefully explain the distaste this post put in my mouth

Price gouging actually makes sure that supply is available for all people. Especially in natural disasters like hurricanes. Every year you see people posting on twitter that local grocery store is charging triple for cases of water or gas. Well yeah they should. Guarantees the “burn rate” of supply is less compared to keeping prices the same so a few people can buy up all the supply. Smh

Survival of the richest?

I disagree about the analogy. I get his point, but not everyone wants an Applebee's or Olive Garden right outside their back door. I don't. But that doesn't mean I don't want to go to those places. Well, I don't want to go to Applebee's. Lol.

Same with beer at Neyland. Plenty of people might drink beer, but won't at the game because they have to drive afterwards or whatever other reason and prefer it wasn't sold there.

Just because all that is good and pleased some, doesn't mean it does everyone.

But whatever, I'm for it but I do understand others are not. No biggie just my opinion.
That’s why they call them analogies. Not all things about the two subjects are analogous. The analogy he made was that there have been fewer reported incidents because people will go where they need to, to get what they want. In this case either binge drinking before the game or sneaking in beverages.
Selling beer in the stadium reduced the incidents. Just like having a dry county doesn’t really do anything other than hurt the businesses in that county.

People who are responsible enough to have the attitude you mentioned aren’t the demographic this deals with.

You have an increase in revenue and fewer alcohol related incidents. Sounds like a win, win.

Clearly no-one is overcharging anything here because they had $1.5 million in sales. I'm not sympathetic to your plight. If you have free time and money to entertain yourself traveling to a football game you can afford a $6 water or a $12 beer or you can take the other option.

I had no idea there were so many Tennessee fans that had ever paid $12 for domestic beer outside of Neyland Stadium...

LMK when your next social gathering is... I can function as both overcharging vendor and bouncer to keep the riff-raff out

For the record... I was complaining about water prices... and I brought up the smoking section issue as a non-smoker because i'm not a sociopath and empathize with other humans that have addictions to nicotine...

Furthermore.................. I haven't met another person that's been to Neyland that didn't complain about the ridiculous concession prices until today...

We usually go somewhere nice before a game and skip the overpriced concessions garbage lol.

All the concessions at MB are dirt cheap.
So concessions at the best stadium in the USA are dirt cheap but prices at Neyland are at or below what you pay anywhere else...

.........................Right

I'm going out guys... had no idea there was this elitist mindframe that existed better yet amongst Vol fans... I'm not some poor grocery store clerk.... I do nuclear part programming and make a pretty decent salary... it's not about "being able to afford" or "keeping the riff-raff out" SMDH.... it's about terrible value at concessions, because...

kind of comical... The prices are at or even below what you pay anywhere else.

is FAKE NEWS

They made a conscious decision to use concessions as a value added rather than a profit center. 10 seconds on Google and you’ll find countless news stories about it.

Elitist mindframe because some people don’t have a problem with pricing. You ain’t going to Neyland for food selection. If a $12 beer is gonna make or break your wallet, you prolly shouldn’t be going to a football game in the first place. Concessions are hardly one of the bigger line item expenses for going to a game

But it’s always been that way. Don’t you think there has to be some limitations on some things?

Sure for safety purposes. But restricting how much a business can sell of something is absurd when talking about food and water.

Go to every game. Don’t care if you want to drink beer or not but two different idiots spilt their beer on my children. My daughter was in our other seats so I wasn’t there but the other was a lady who spilt it on my son and his friend. I had to show restraint since I was the ride home but it has me rethinking my monetary contributions because you should not have to worry about this. One time may be an aberration but twice is starting a pattern. They probably won’t miss my five figure donation but it wasn’t perfect for at least one family

I’ve had a dozen sodas spilt on me in Neyland. I think all drinks should be banned. Should we start a petition together?

I agree... it's 10x more dispicable for the corporation to mark it up during times of need than the "entrepreneurial" random human

The corporation is not doing it to "preserve the stock"... o_O

It's sobering to me that I'm having to push an argument to somebody that's on the side of it being OK for stores to price-gouge during national emergencies

His avatar may provide some clarity.

I mean if you gotta have a drink to enjoy the game that’s your right. I have NO problem with responsible drinking. The problem is some people think they are in control but they aren’t.

"Price gouging is a term referring to when a seller spikes the prices of goods, services or commodities to a level much higher than is considered reasonable or fair, and is considered exploitative, potentially to an unethical extent. Usually this event occurs after a demand or supply shock."

Demand or supply shock... like locking 100,000 people in a stadium for 4 hours... it's the exact definition of price gouging...

.... And "No one is required to buy tickets to go to the game" is an absolutely ridiculous stance to take on this issue... there's no reason the University can't set concessions to prices that aren't blatantly ripping off the fans that support them
Seems like a super weak argument. Water is free and the game lasts about three hours. I've been going to games for years. I've literally never once bought anything from the concession stands.

If everyone was like me, the prices would go down. The fact that lines wrap around the stadium proves the prices are "fair".
