Looks like Cristobal to Miami

I truly think I would...You come off looking like a complete chump if you you let the school you work for openly flirt with a coach to replace you when you haven't been fired, and then tell you that you will be fired if said coach agrees to replace you...It shows you have no spine and no character, which could negatively effect your future job prospects.
8+ million dollars WOULD positively affect your future.

It's not like anyone is going beat down Coach Diaz' door for a great coaching job. He'll take the money because it's likely the last major payday he'll ever see from coaching anyway.

You're making an emotional decision in your hypothetical and then rationalizing it. Public perception of spine and character aren't necessary to secure a coaching gig.

You would resign when that means you would forfeit $8 million or so in buyout?

I'm all about principle, but for that amount of coin I would probably just half-hearted effort things until they fired me.

Not like Diaz has much of a reputation to protect.

Facts! I'm doing things about 25% until yall fire me hahahaha

Wait it out until next year and then resign the day before the season starts. šŸ˜¬

If I'm Manny Diaz and Cristobal turns the job down, I tender my resignation the very minute I find out...No way I'm getting cucked by the athletic department, not to mention my job security is obviously non existent.
Well If you are married I would bet your wife would remind you a decision like that doesn't just affect you it it effects her and if you have kids.

It is easy to sound tough right here but when your life eanings is about to take a 8 million dollar hit. Especially since you are in this situation because you're current job isnt going well. You likely will never get a job that pays this well. You would ride this one out. Which wouldn't take long anyways. Once recruits find out administration was trying to replace you but your replacement backed out. Recruits would know you're a lame duck and administration would end up giving you your termination papers.

So in course of days for ego would forfeit 8 million$? šŸ¤” Sincerely doubt it.

He'd go straight back to Temple and make enough to be secure and happy.

I wouldn't, I'd make them fire me and pay me every single cent they owe me and take the worse paying job to keep them paying for it ala Butch Jones.

I honestly don't get the obsession with Cristobal. Yes, he's a good recruiter in a terribly weak PAC 12, but that's about it. His teams fold in big games.

Also, might I add that this has been the craziest season for coaching hires in recent memory.

With the buzz about Harsin not fitting in Auburn, I wonder if Harsin puts his name out there for Oregon if Cristobal jumps?

I'm not sure he'll even be on their radar but if he's looking to go back to the west...... he might have his agent throw it out there.

That's all he is. A good recruiter. Now it Miami gives him resources look out. That's why they have struggled. If they get the backing by the admin they will be right back at the top of the sport
