Looks like Cristobal to Miami

It looks like Diaz is out in Miami so Cristobal is probably in shortly.

I wonder if Heupel has a relationship with Diaz? He was at MTSU and FSU at one point and in the SEC.

The "Heupel Coaching Rehab Facility"...... let an old man dream.

Miami's problems are at the AD and Regent level.

Christobal won't have any more success there than Diaz, and will probably fare worse there than at Oregon who had an easier schedule than even Miami the last few years.

I truly think I would...You come off looking like a complete chump if you you let the school you work for openly flirt with a coach to replace you when you haven't been fired, and then tell you that you will be fired if said coach agrees to replace you...It shows you have no spine and no character, which could negatively effect your future job prospects.
Give me $8 mil and call me chump for eternity.

I said before that Miami was ready to play. Once they made to decision to start giving out that Miami UHealth System money they were going to go CRAZY down there. Also don't think there's still not cocaine dollars in that town.

VFL...GBO

True, but he'll be back home, close to his family, and reasonably (for Miami) well heeled. A perfect storm situation of a coaching opportunity near home and high salary year for coaches.

Good for him and his family.

Miami will Miami...... and I'm sure in about 5 years NCAA investigators will get to hang out on the beach again for awhile.

This is a huge move for the canes and especially recruiting in south florida, this guy has personal relationships with every single highschool coach in broward and dade county. He will do a great job of preventing all the best players from choosing bama georgia UF clemson from leaving the area. Not to mention he could bring in joe brady or even Jason taylor or patrick surtian who are both coaches in the local area at powerhouse programs. A strong Miami is good for college football and good for Tennessee.

He's gone to Miami... no rumor anymore.

Personally, I wish him well, he seems like a very "straight up" kind of guy. Now the search is on for Oregon. It will likely be an ugly bowl game for the Ducks with no head coach, no OC, and it appears that Tibs is skipping the bowl game for the NFL draft. Then we get to play Okla with no head coach, the tv rating for that game should be pretty low.

If I'm Manny Diaz and Cristobal turns the job down, I tender my resignation the very minute I find out...No way I'm getting cucked by the athletic department, not to mention my job security is obviously non existent.

He should just make them fire him WITHOUT cause to get whatever buyout was in his contract and wave goodbye.

I said about a week ago Lane Kiffin to Oregon is the absolute perfect spot for him and that it was my prediction on where he would go

And no…Manny Diaz has not been fired yet

Biggest cluster of a hiring job since JetGate at Auburn. Miami finally has gotten the word that for them to return they have to pull up to the table and play with big school money if they want big money returns. They played too much on the cheap for years and it caught up with them.

Miami is a sleeping giant with the right hire and this was the right hire to make the commitment. A strong Miami is good for Tennessee as it lessens the talent pool for Florida.

If I'm Phil Knight, I call Lane Kiffin. And don't give this contract signed. Kiffin at Oregon is easier to win than Kiffin in the West. Nike can write the check and pay for 8-9M a year to make it happen.

I’m in the minority I guess that think this is a good hire. The Dade/Broward connection will be huge. Sure the regents are killing them but the former players have a MAJOR influence on kids down there and they will ride with Cristobal. Just my two cents but I am sure in short order I will get to hear why I’m wrong lol.

Miami is the definition of a “sleeping giant.” If they’re shelling out over $8 million a year for Cristobal, then maybe they’re finally getting serious. The amount of talent that has left south Florida over the past 10-12 years is mind boggling. If you just keep a majority of the top prospects from the “state of Miami” as schnellenberger called it, you’re going to compete for championships.
Here’s just a taste of the type of players who, if they decided to stay home, would have been Canes:

Lamarcus Joyner
Corey Lemonier
Nickell Robey
Aaron Lynch
Sammy Watkins
James Wilder
Devonta Freeman
Kelvin Benjamin
Ryan Shazier
Teddy Bridgewater
Dante Fowler
Nelson Agholor
Amari Cooper
Vernon Hargreaves
Mackensie Alexander
Joey Bosa
Eddie Jackson
Dalvin Cook
Sony Michel
Isaiah Wynn
Deon Cain
Calvin Ridley
Lamar Jackson
Nick Bosa
Jerry Jeudy
Patrick Surtain
Tyson Campbell
Nicholas Petit Frere
James Cook

There are literally 39 - 4*+ along the I-4 corridor and south this year NOT counting IMG kids (since they come from all over the country). As long as you’re a recruiter, minimal coaching would damn near ensure a playoff appearance. Miami could at minimum be what everyone claims UGA and Kirby are.
