Short version is Angel Reese was criticized for doing something Caitlin Clark also did, but wasn’t criticized for.

The part of Reese’s quote mentioning “other players” (obviously Clark) was conspicuously missing from @MHS Rebel ’s post.

Context matters.

The difference is talking smack vs taunting. What do you think would happen in a men’s game if a player did what Reese did?

Agreed - after listening to postgame interviews.

Angel getting into Caitlin Clark's face, showing finger where a ring will be (not the "bad finger") and when Miss Clark turned away she kept coming around to her face 2-3 times.

The team not getting in the postgame line to shake hands, one girl using the f-word with a mic in her face, others impeding Iowa's walk to to locker room.
Nice job on the thread title OP. Made me look. Spent more time reading your post than watching the game tho.

It’s kinda gross when a resident Gator has to clean up y’all’s posts. But it has became the norm. Here’s the full quote:

Notice, she’s saying she’s been called that all year by the media. For doing the same things Clark has been doing. I have zero problem with the swagger and trash talk from any player. I do have a problem with Rebel omitting the full quote so it shows that Reese was saying the media called her those things.

Has ANYONE seen a media clip or article, which refers to Reese as "too 'hood" or "too ghetto?" Of course you haven't, because it doesn't exist.

I seriously considered writing "MADE YOU LOOK" when I created the post. Good job!! I'm kind of sorry I started the blame thing now.

I have no issue with what Reese did at the free throw line. Clark has been doing that “do you see me” thing to opponents all tournament. Trash talk is a normal part of sports, at all levels. However, chasing her around the court for the final 10 seconds was rather ridiculous.
I agree. No problem with giving Clark the same trash talk she's been giving people all year. But chasing her around when she is trying to walk away with time still on the clock...should have been a technical foul. Also im pretty sure I watched them shake hands in the handshake line, they just spent a few minutes beforehand celebrating their win, deservingly so.

Trash talk is what makes sports fun. I did see people on Twitter calling Reese "classless" and "POS" and those same people when Clark was doing it were praising her saying she has fight in her, got that dog in her etc....those people are just racists.

Also worth noting, this game had over 9 million viewers and peaked at 12 million. More people watched a women's CBB game than the sugar bowl or orange bowl. Pretty crazy.

Doesn’t change the story. I haven’t looked nor do I care. The point is correctly relaying the quote.

all that said, the fact it was even brought up in the press conference negatively after Clark was praised for doing the same things tells us all we need to know

Anybody that wants to knock LSU for their antics better despite our baseball team

Her bench is the other direction

Also this could be considered taunting.

For the record I have no problem with any of this stuff. I think it's great for competition and the sport. My problem is with people who think white person doing it = great, black person doing it = classless

Yeah those two incredibly minor examples aren't even close to what Reese blatantly did at the end of the game.

Like it's laughable that anyone could possibly compare the two and literally if anyone did what Reese did they would get called out for it all the same.

So using this situation as an example of people displaying biased opinions based on race is the epitome of grasping at straws.

I have no problem w/ giving it back to a player or throughout the course of the game. I have a problem with Reese’s timing and doing it when the game is over and you’re chasing someone off the court . That’s not the time for that. That’s the time to be celebrating w/ your teammates.

To me the two are not comparable, at all. If it can't be said that Reese was showing poor sportsmanship, then I don't know what else you would call it. Didn't seem to bother Clark too much. If it did, she didn't show it.
