Any predictions on the line for next saturday's game? I'll tentatively guess that it will be UT -2.5. Whatever the line is, I won't be touching it. Anything could happen in that game.
In fact, if I was forced at gunpoint to put money on that game, I would put it on LSU. My rationale would be that if tennessee wins it will be in a close game (i don't think tennessee has much chance of blowing out lsu). LSU, on the other hand, could conceivably win by a substantial margin. It depends on which lsu team arrives in knoxville. If they bring the team that played against florida and auburn, then I think tennessee wins in a very close defensive battle--a typical sec grinder. If they bring the team that played against everybody else, then I could see them opening it up.

Can anyone rationally explain LSU's offensive jekyll/hyde nature (other than they play worse against better teams)? I would like to see if someone has a decent take on this.

How's this for their jekyll and hide nature......They play extremely well at home where as on the road they can't put up the kind of points on the board that they have at home....I think they're averaging like 44 points per game at home and not nowhere near half on the road(last I saw, which was a while back so that may have changed) but that's how I view it

This will be a great game. It's really 50/50 when you look at it. I think LSU will come in highly pissed after last year, but I think UT has the coaching and talent to handle it. It's anybody's game on Saturday.

That's the only thing that I'm wandering about, not worried about....Will they want to come up here in our house and beat us like we did last year.....I'm going to be at that game, I hope if we lose its not in the fashion that we won in last year....Either way, I just hope we win...We win this week and next week at Arkansas we'll be in the top 7-8 in the BCS

That's what happens when you play Arizona and Mississippi State at home and Florida and Auburn on the road.

They also play extremely well when not televised, but have lost their last three games shown by CBS. LSU must just be camera shy. ;)

I think we will win, but not in great fashion. I think it will look like the last couple of games against 'Bama and SC. You know they will be ready after what we did to them last year in their place.

All i know is that there is no excuse for the way they played against FL. The key to this game will be for LSU not to turn the ball over. If Russell doesnt have any brain farts for the entire 60 mins., then of course i would think they have the better chance to win. But...if ainge is healthy and we give up 5 turnovers, there is no way on gods green earth LSU wins.

I hope its a a game to the end with both teams playing the game of their lives so we can really know who is better at the end.

Also...hope you guys dont plan on inviting those auburn refs the butchered the LSU-AU game back in sept.:dance2:

Wow, that surprises me a little bit. I thought we would be favored by 1 or 2. Shows how much I know.

I think that has something to do with their opponents. If the Mississippi State game had been on CBS, I'm pretty confident that the Tigers wouldn't have the aforementioned losing streak.

This is the game I have dreaded most all year. Not only will they come in real bitter about last year, they will be coming in with the best group of athletes, top to bottom, in the SEC. This is THE game where the VOLs really must "put it all together," and play with all cylinders humming for a full four quarters.

In fact, when Ainge gimped his ankle last night, three thoughts at once crossed my mind: L......S......U. And about three bottles of beer did their level best to crawl back out of me.

This is the most talented team we will play all year, but if you pressure Russell he's not the same QB that he is when thay plays those sorry teams. History is on our side also. LSU has only beaten us about five times. Does anyone know the overall record of the series?

If we win both of those games, I would hope like heck we'd be higher than 7 or 8 in the BCS, considering that's about where we should be now, and prayerfully, an additional spot or two will open up ahead of us by then, but my Lord, with what we're seeing from the
BCS so far, I'm not countin' on anything.

The impression I have is that our coaches are scared of the turnover in the big games....they play EXTREMELY conservatively in the playcalling except when we are trying to pull a last second comeback. We have what is probably the best arm in football period, along with what is probably one of the best overall WR corp, and when we are trailing in the 4th at Auburn, we send our worst RB up the middle for no gain TWICE IN A ROW! :furious3:

In the nothing games, they aren't concerned about turnovers because it really doesn't matter, so they feel free to light it up.

Face it except for the California game we haven't had a complete game since. Which leads me to believe we are due. For Pete's sake, you are building up twice beaten LSU up like they are the Boston Patriots(couldn't spell Indianapolis). If Ainge and Foster healthy then we win.

Did you check out our losses? Or are you just presuming that the fact that we lost means that we are fodder.

Auburn: Bad calls pretty much everytime we started to sniff the endzone that killed drives at the worst time

Florida: We defeated ourselves and a good team capitalized on our mistakes.

We are still the #1 defense in the nation, with one of the best secondaries, something that remained true against both of those teams that were ranked #2 at some point. So you can't exactly say we are #1 simply because of the home cupcakes.

So basically, with your lack of a good running game you will have to do a dangerous thing and attempt to rely on passing the ball for your yards.

At best, this game is a coin toss. By no means is it a sure victory for Tennessee even if you guys are all healthy. We had 2 full weeks to prepare for a do or die situation.

You were overrlooked. LSU/Auburn is brewing to be a massive rivalry because of how competitive the teams are and the fact of what is at stake...winner has won the West pretty much all the time for the past 6 years.

Hell, TT said this past week that his players are only just now recovering from the hard hits that LSU gave them.....

You were one lucky OT away from being right where you were last year.....ending up 4th in the West.

Now be good and don't lose to SC so the LSU/Ark game can be to decide who wins the West. :)

With you analogy (whining) I just don't unnderstand why LSU isn't ranked in the top 3 of the BCS Poll. Oh let me see your 6-2 and 0-2 on the road. Please cry on your own board not hear in front of all UT fans.:bash:

*sigh*

All I am saying is that LSU isn't dismissable. We are far too good to be a certain win even if all your guys are healed up. Is that an incorrect statement to make?

And where exactly did I misrepresent our losses so as it could be taken as whining?

Auburn, almost every gamechanging LSU play was called back either due to a horrible call, a no-call, or by a judgement call that didn't go our way. It went far beyond just the PI that was mass reported. In one case, you had a Auburn player holding a LSU player's arm down from the side in the endzone, and the ball bounced off the LSU recievers chest. No pass interference called. Hell, from what I hear, it occured to some extent during the Florida game leading some in the national media to call foul.

Florida, Offensive screw ups cost us the game. Yeah, that is real whining, let me tell you. Its like I am trying to pin the blame on everyone else.

But what analogy was made? I never said that we don't deserve to be where we are. Hell, I agree with the computer's rank of 24 due to our lack of quality wins. That doesn't change the fact that we are a threat that can hang with any team in the nation.
