Its what I am here for. :p

I still hold out hope for the long shot that Bama beats Auburn thrusting the Battle for the Boot into new importance.

Wouln't Auburn have to lose two more times in order for it to help LSU? If they lose only one more, they still own the tie breaker over LSU.

Trust me...we've wargamed it like crazy. :)

If LSU wins out, and Arky loses to LSU and either Tenn OR SC, and Auburn loses one more SEC game, then it is a 3 way tie. If Auburn loses to a SEC East Team, the winner is determined by BCS ranking. If Auburn loses to a West team, then both of their losses will have been to West teams whereas Arky and LSU would have one from West, another from East.

Therefore Auburn gets eliminated from consideration, and the SEC West representative (because we would all win the SEC West title) would be the winner of the LSU/Arky game.

I think a similar thing happened in 2001....and LSU won out in that scenario. Although I bet our resident Tenn fans here well remember that.

At best, this game is a coin toss. By no means is it a sure victory for Tennessee even if you guys are all healthy. We had 2 full weeks to prepare for a do or die situation.

I don't think that anyone on this board thinks that it is a sure victory.

Well...at least I don't think its a sure victory. In stark contrast to marky mark wahlberg, I am not feeling good vibrations (about this week's game).

*sigh*

All I am saying is that LSU isn't dismissable. We are far too good to be a certain win even if all your guys are healed up. Is that an incorrect statement to make?

And where exactly did I misrepresent our losses so as it could be taken as whining?

Auburn, almost every gamechanging LSU play was called back either due to a horrible call, a no-call, or by a judgement call that didn't go our way. It went far beyond just the PI that was mass reported. In one case, you had a Auburn player holding a LSU player's arm down from the side in the endzone, and the ball bounced off the LSU recievers chest. No pass interference called. Hell, from what I hear, it occured to some extent during the Florida game leading some in the national media to call foul.

Florida, Offensive screw ups cost us the game. Yeah, that is real whining, let me tell you. Its like I am trying to pin the blame on everyone else.

But what analogy was made? I never said that we don't deserve to be where we are. Hell, I agree with the computer's rank of 24 due to our lack of quality wins. That doesn't change the fact that we are a threat that can hang with any team in the nation.

I think your assesments of the Auburn & Florida games are dead on.

And as I sadly predicted in the official pick the score thread, we will lose -- because we can't run the ball, and we won't be able to stop your run.

VOLS PROVE ME WRONG.

Going into last week against south carolina, even though the stats said they were really good, they only beat the bad teams and lost to the good teams. The same holds true with Lsu. Yes, I know, they have much more talent. But the fact remains that good teams make their breaks, while bad teams complain that their opponent got the breaks.

Lsu isnt a bad team by any stretch. But I feel fairly confident, being that weve beaten a couple good teams, while they havent. I also think we have the advantage coaching.

If the Vols can run just enough to keep LSU honest and put pressure on their QB and force turnovers we will have a very good chance. I see our special teams being BIG in this game maybe a blocked punt or a TD return by Hef Lord knows he's due.Field posistion will be crucial. One of the biggest keys is :rock:NEYLAND STADIUM MUST BE ROCKING:rock: when LSU is on offense and get into Russell's head to where he cant think and he WILL make mistakes.
Our O-line will be tested like never before this season i think LSU's front 7 are much better than Florida's
and w/ Ainge having a bad ankle it will be hard to roll him out to get away from the pressure so we will see alot of shotgun one more thing about the ankle a QB uses his feet for accuracy when he plants and steps into the throw how will the ankle hold up????
That is my biggest concern, this game is so dangerous its almost scary.

I will make the same prediction to you that I did to our own Vol fans after last year's Alabama game:

If LSU plays football for another 100 years, they will never win a game in which they score only 3 points.

With good officials, bad officials, thunderstorms, full moons, invisible gophers, astrological anomalies, or earthquakes, if you can't muster more than a field goal, you will lose. Blame offensive execution, not zebras.

That being said, I agree that LSU is one of the two most talented teams on UT's schedule this year (the other being Florida, which didn't work out so well for us.) They are also the most boneheaded.

That makes them very dangerous, and also very beatable. If Tennessee takes care of the football, doesn't give up the big play, and takes advantage of the mistakes that Russell, Miles, and company seem to inevitably make, they will be fine.

This is the worst post ever! Every one knows if you score three points with invisable gophers they will beat us. Chavis has never faced an all American invisable gopher.

Um, no. Your response is the worst post ever. And you should be banned for originally calling someone's post the worst ever.

I think this is the first time i heard the term invisible gophers, since discussing Minnesota and the Top 25.

What the hell is going on here?

Since when do SEC fans talk smack like this?

In another thread, I posted that I predicted LSU would lose, and in this one, you predict the Vols to lose?

Where did all this retarded humility COME from??

:bow2:

I mean, if we were to play in character, I'd have predicted an LSU win by, oh, 75 points. 75-0, that is.

I don't understand. I don't understand.:pilot:

LSU is a scary team, but you must play like you did at Fla field, :)

This is the most talented team we will play all year, but if you pressure Russell he's not the same QB that he is when thay plays those sorry teams.
Russell really hasn't gotten all that much pressure this year, the LSU line pass blocks very well. The run blocking has been sub-par.

LSU has blown away unranked competition and has lost only to top-10 teams on the road, but was competitive in both losses. Beating a third top-10 team on the road will be a challenge, but LSU is capable of doing it. And Russell isn't the whole team. LSU is #1 nationally in total defense, allowing 211 yards a game and #2 in scoring defense, allowing 8.3 points a game. You have to score to win.

History is on our side also. LSU has only beaten us about five times.
??? Check the figures. History won't be suiting up for this one, amigo.

Does anyone know the overall record of the series?
Tennessee 54 -- LSU 40, LSU leads in Baton Rouge, Tennessee leads in Knoxville.
