LSU Speculation

Russell really hasn't gotten all that much pressure this year, the LSU line pass blocks very well. The run blocking has been sub-par.

LSU has blown away unranked competition and has lost only to top-10 teams on the road, but was competitive in both losses. Beating a third top-10 team on the road will be a challenge, but LSU is capable of doing it. And Russell isn't the whole team. LSU is #1 nationally in total defense, allowing 211 yards a game and #2 in scoring defense, allowing 8.3 points a game. You have to score to win.

??? Check the figures. History won't be suiting up for this one, amigo.

Tennessee 54 -- LSU 40, LSU leads in Baton Rouge, Tennessee leads in Knoxville.
Maybe LSU's line is very good. I guess Russell just sucks against good competition. History may not be suiting up Sat., but if you don't look at history you will lose your shirt if you put $ on the games. Where did you get those number. There is no way in hell TN and LSU have player 94 times in the past 106 or so years.

We must find a running game for this one. That's the bottom line. Or it will be the Florida game all over again.

Most definitely but I don't see it happening....We haven't been beat when we put up 50 or more points....I believe that's the stat I saw

I wanna know how many teams have lost period after putting up 50 or more points.....

What the hell is going on here?

Since when do SEC fans talk smack like this?

In another thread, I posted that I predicted LSU would lose, and in this one, you predict the Vols to lose?

Where did all this retarded humility COME from??

:bow2:

I mean, if we were to play in character, I'd have predicted an LSU win by, oh, 75 points. 75-0, that is.

I don't understand. I don't understand.:pilot:

A good dose of mutual respect is healthy from time to time considering the volumes of invective hurled prior to and after all the other games. And, from where I sit, LSU is a university and team that I personally have no trouble at all granting respect and even a margin of admiration to. (I suspect a lot of this has to do with my fond memories of that state and its natives when we stomped the Hurricanes there in the 85 Sugar Bowl. Every person wearing LSU attire consistently looked my way all week and yelled, "GO VOLS!!!!") Such gestures are appreciated and NEVER forgotten.:salute:

Did you check out our losses? Or are you just presuming that the fact that we lost means that we are fodder.

Auburn: Bad calls pretty much everytime we started to sniff the endzone that killed drives at the worst time

Florida: We defeated ourselves and a good team capitalized on our mistakes.

We are still the #1 defense in the nation, with one of the best secondaries, something that remained true against both of those teams that were ranked #2 at some point. So you can't exactly say we are #1 simply because of the home cupcakes.

So basically, with your lack of a good running game you will have to do a dangerous thing and attempt to rely on passing the ball for your yards.

At best, this game is a coin toss. By no means is it a sure victory for Tennessee even if you guys are all healthy. We had 2 full weeks to prepare for a do or die situation.

Georga was also the #1 defense, and I am sure the cupcaked did not hurt.

I believe Georgia was the #1 defense for I believe 1 week, before hitting their first "real" opponent. LSU has been #1 for pretty much the entire season, despite having already played 2 top teams. The margin between us and the next team is relatively decent (Rutgers) and we all know how they've been running on those powerhouses over there in the Big Least.

FLA/TEN
Passing attempts - completions 25-15/33-18
Gross passing yards 199/231
Rushing attempts - yards 41-121/23-(-11)
First downs 22/13

LSU/FLA
Passing attempts - completions 41-24/28-19
Gross passing yards 228/191
Rushing attempts - yards 25-90/32-97
First downs 22/14

big difference in those games were LSU's 5 turnovers. that willl change a gameplan real quick.

Indeed they were....I am trying not to think about the fact that had we not turned over the ball so much...hell if we hadn't don't it just one fewer time and not done it coming back into the half, odds were pretty decent that we would still be in the NC race.

And we would be leading the east at the same time.

i think we can win, and as much as i hate to admit it, we need ainge (have never been a big fan, sorry) to be healthy, and def. to rise up and play huge. i am not sold on lsu coaching or offense, like our kicking game more than theirs, and i will take cpf and coach cut over miles anyday

I heard on Sports Animal today that if Ainge isn't at least at 80-85% he won't play......I'm sorry, I don't doubt that Crompton is good enough to beat LSU, but he's just not got the experience against a team like LSU to beat them his first start...I'm hoping Ainge will be able to go, if not it may be a long night....But I think Crompton will be OK, just better come ready to play
