‘23 LSU transfer OT Zalance Heard (Tennessee)

A few weeks back Doug Mathews mentioned talking to coaches about recruiting portal players. Was saying they want to get the last visit for high school kids. But you want the first visit for these portal guys. You want to lock them down quick. Hopefully that works out here.
It apparently didnt work for Baron. And we certainly dont know non visit comms with different schools prior to commitments.

Savy buyers usually should never accept first offers, not to say he is savy as he is a kid.
I say this as an ideal and as someone going on near 3 decades of sales experience, but certainly not a great salesman.
Of course there are other factors like market conditions and other than monetary factors.
Peculiar, but the monetary transference goes from the seller to the buyer in this instance in exchange for his services, which kind of makes him the seller..lol

But alas, maybe I am misreading and no biggie and hope we get him

Hypothetically, if the money that was going to be used for Seaton Will be used for this kid instead. It may be a huge blessing in disguise we didn't get seaton.

We'd have this guy for 2 years and he is already proven in the SEC
Heard has 3 years he could play. Pounds and Reed only two.

So say we get Reed and Heard, we add a Jr and a So.

With a second transfer pretty much a easy get now, is a multi year player still a big deal? Mincey being a prime example. Yeah, odds are that we'd be able to keep most, there are bound to be those once a portal guy always a portal guy. Especially those who likely won't make the NFL. Grabbing the cash while they can.

If they fit our culture, turn out to be good and our coaches want them, The Vol Club is basically undefeated keeping players.

So yes I think it’s a big deal.

If they turn out to be a bad culture fit or not as good as we think it’s probably a good thing they can transfer again.

Thought they paid our OL to keep them? What about Mincey?

So what AP is saying is, he doesn't think he ends up at OU....or TN for that matter. His way of letting us down easy.
Like clockwork. Do you ever post in threads after we get a 4* or higher commitment? You would have a hard time spinning that to meet whatever your agenda is. If you are trying to prove to everyone how savvy and smart you are, whoops, that was a big miss.

You are assuming they really wanted to keep Baron over some others. that may not be the case.
