‘23 LSU transfer OT Zalance Heard (Tennessee)

I think some of these bozos are wanting to lock a guy in a room and make him the Godfather "offer he can't refuse".

It is my understanding they had to be in the portal. For most that was last week. That was delayed for guys not done with their games? but for the vast majority that deadline is up already up.

Once players are in the portal it comes down to being enrolled before the schools deadline. UT's is actually one of the later ones so that actually helps a little.
This is from one of the articles I read trying to figure this out:

"After the NCAA shortened the winter transfer window from 45 days to 30 days, it added an exemption for players who compete in their bowl games, who are given an additional five-day transfer window after playing in the games."

Here is a link to the article: (and for you A-Z haters, this is SI)

Quadrupling the previous seasons win total is underachieving in your book? If he had so much talent before he got there like you claim, they wouldn’t have went 1-11

The over/under win total for 2023, did they go over or under?…I’ll wait
Check Golesh at USF if you want to see a coach who over achieved.

Just saying kids talk, and they talk to each other. If certain promises or agreements arent met, that gets told down the line, to a HS Cruit or Teammates. I applaud how TN is handling this. Due diligence will pay off

Wonder if that's part of the reason UF has had a mass exodus of sorts. I mean going 5-7 doesn't help, but with what happened with Jaden Rashada last year, it does make you wonder.

Other times you just have to acknowledge that the guys running PFF are clueless clowns.
or you admit that eyes can lie. PFF is a lot of things. Inconsistent its not. its not a perfect metric but its very widely used and trusted by the people that actually count. This is because it takes into account ALL SNAPS. Even the ones you didn't notice as a fan. PFF grades are more a measure of consistency. It's kinda like a +/- in basketball. So you could have 2 WRs that both played 500 snaps. One had 10 TD's and 600 yards. But he also had 20 drops and ran a lot of bad routes. The other guys has 2 td's and 400 yards but ran good routes every time and no drops. To most fans the guy with 10 td's is better. But is he really? Maybe that other guy running the correct route is what got the other guy open for those TD's? Maybe the blocks he executed sprung someone else for a score.

My point is PFF is a metric..I think throughout a season it has some meaning. Game to game less so. But if you're gonna say PFF is no good then remember that when the player you think is good has a good score too. It's the metric we have so either accept it all the time or never. Yes Dayne looked bad in the bowl game on a few big plays...so did most of the oline. Most of the pressure was right up the middle all game. Pockets were getting collapsed inside out not off the edge in most cases. So if Dayne was bad what about the middle of the line? Yeah, I saw 2-3 plays where Dayne plain whiffed. But was it a whiff or was he expecting a back to chip the guy? The coaches know.

I have to believe that the coaches know more than you or me. Including Dooley and Pruitt and Jones...Dayne Davis is out there playing there is a reason. We just always want to oversimplify things and make it all about fahr coach X that fixes everything. Maybe it takes more time for young linemen to adjust to this offense? Maybe we didn't whiff in the portal.. maybe they are not as worried about the guys we have coming back as we seem to be and are kicking the tires on guys and making the right choices. I am in that camp because in 3 shots CJH and his staff have brought in difference-makers via the portal every time. Despite EVERY YEAR these same dumb hand-wringing sessions start around this time.

AP has hinted that $ money isn’t holding us back from getting good OL but more so GE being able to connect with kids
I don’t have that close of interaction with them to know what that is like. However he is very respected in the building. I.e. o other staff. CJH would not allow him to be forced out. Boosters have pull, but not like that. I haven’t heard anything like that though when I’ve been in the athletic department.

Players love him. I think its just an older, more experienced staff that enjoys spending time at home. Its all about family.

Sales is about getting in front of the client. Trust me, Id rather take a beating than get on a plane, but its what we do.
