Lunardi just said after the game

What pisses me off all u heard was if Kentucky were to win the Sec tourney they would jump to a 1 seed. What if Auburn won Yada Yada but like has been said TN wins it and literally ain't sh*t said or done just excuses.Theirs always been a bias with certain programs but this year just cemented it for alot of folks as the joke it really is.

The most frustrating thing from my perspective is the inconsistency of factoring conference tournament results. For some teams, the conference tournament results matter, but for others (such as Tennessee), they don't. Nobody ever explains why.
It just boils down to them wanting what is best for certain teams, if they can help it. Teams like Duke and Kentucky are always going to get the benefit of the doubt if their seeding position is pretty close to another non-blue blood school's, whether that means they get #68 instead of #69, #17 instead of #20, or #1 instead of #3. If they are deserving of, say, the #15 overall seed the Committee isn't going to put them at #5; it isn't that egregious, but they are going to finagle it so that they have as ideal of a position as possible. This time, we happened to be the team that got cut in front of. It's happened before.

So if Duke loses their conference tournament title game to a bubble team, perhaps that year the determination is made that "Sunday games don't matter all that much" (another direct Lunardi quote from yesterday). If Duke wins that game, and especially if they were in a spot where they could use a materially better seed, perhaps the Sunday games would matter.
