Look around the game thread. Everyone says I'm proud we took the 1 team wire to wire like that means something. Yes Florida isn't the same team we owned the last two years but neither is our roster either. It's better. Everyone that says we shouldn't expect to beat Florida is either clueless or just so sympathetic for the current staff.

Let me ask you this. If you asked someone who doesn't care one bit about basketball to watch that game yesterday, would that person have walked away thinking there are 40-50 teams better than UT after telling them UF was the #1 team?

I'm saying that answer is no.

I never mentioned anything about moral victories. I said if the committee watched the game they would see that UT isn't a "play-in game" team.

But our résumé says else wise. Judging by yesterday, we should be a top 4 seed

If you look at the list of teams in the 10-12 seed ranges, how many do you think UT would beat today? That's my point. Not moral victories against UF. Just the eye test on March 16.

The problem with the team is, no one knows. They've only beaten 2 NCAA teams this year and lost every other game to the others they've played.

Overall? No. I don't. I still think Martin is not very good and will lose his job. Maybe not this year but it will happen. I think the defense has gotten better every year and our half court offense is much better but overall, our future looks bleak and I don't see Martin as the answer. I think he can be a really good coach one day though.

You say he isn't a good coach but then you say we have gotten better?

Talent wise, we are better than Florida. yesterday showed that. Since Martin didn't have a talent war chest when he took over, he had to develop the talent we have and it shows. However, his coaching hasn't developed. The fact that we took a step back this year and people are okay with it is very troubling.

You seriously think we have more talent than the number one team in the country?

Yes but I think RPI mixed with a horrible record vs the teams that make our RPI and SOS good doesn't help us. Plus, SMU bet some good teams and actually made the top 25

Except that decisive victory against the ACC regular season and post season champs who will finish the season ranked in the top 5. SMU's best non conference win was against...Texas A&M I guess.

Stokes>Young and McRae>Wilbekin.

Stokes > Young (by a little)
McRae > Wilbekin as a scorer
McRae < Wilbekin in other aspects of game
McRae = Wilbekin overall
Rest of UF's team >>> rest of UT's team
(more consistent on offense, all of UF's players are great defenders)

Overall UF is better.

Talent No
Coaching Yes

Our first five can match Fla. Now when you go to the bench things change.

Our top two match. They have three or four players better than JR and Maymon besides Young/SW. Its not close in overall talent. UF has 5 star MCD AA future pros on the bench.

Name all those future pros.
Florida has one player in the top 60 mock drafts and
he is Young at #59 and #60 in two major mocks.

Don't just look at this year. Chris Walker and Kasey Hill are 5 stars who come off the bench. Frazier is a hell of a shooter and will play pro ball if he continues. They are very talented- much more than just their senior class.
