LV 2019 Recruiting Thread

They were positionless before Aja ? how did that work out ? I cant even remember SoCar without Aja sorry lol
Made the tournament 3 times with two Sweet 16’s and a Second rounder. Those teams had zero 5 star players and 3 starting forwards who were only 6’0 tall. This year’s team has eight 5 star players and much more height in the front court.

Awe geez your so correct i do apologize , Allisha Gray & Kaela davis would they really count ? They started their careers elsewhere and were always for sure WNBA prospects before SoCar so i dont consider that developing into WNBA Talent as you saw both left after 1 year under Staley . Coates Yes ,Aja Yes , Mitchell Yes . 2 of the 3 being bare minimum contributors to their team .
Davis and Gray were with Dawn for two years but were not allowed to play on game days the first year. But they were in the off-season program, training camp, and all the practices and inter squad scrimmages. They played quite a bit on the scout team.
Mitchell has played major minutes for the Fever all 3 seasons.
Coates got off to a slow start as she missed her first year w/ the Sky because of ankle surgery from the injury at the end of her senior season. She started off playing sparingly last season for the Sky but her minutes increased throughout the season as she got more acclimated to the WNBA game both mentally and physically. Expecting even more things from her going forward.

Rennia is elgible to enter the draft after this season and alot of signs from what ive been reading and hearing says she will go pro if possible. Id hope she stays though and develope one more year . Possibly upping her stock for next years draft as she would clearly be a higher choice if she waited another year.

How old is she? Don't you have to be 22 to turn pro?Rennia would be crazy to turn pro this season unless she has a NPOY kind of year. This class is packed with talented shooting guards and wings. I doubt she would be a top 10 pick.

Sounds great i have high hopes for the gamecocks this year one of the more intriguing teams to watch with the departure of Aja ill be watching to see how this team develops during the season towards tourney time ! I like dawn so im hoping for the best except when they suit up against my LV's lol

She's eligible because she will graduate early as a sophmore this year . Normally you see the "Age" rule give players the upper hand but Rennia has the school credits to make her elgible . Hopefully she does stay , the 1st rd is packed with Top tier talent im not sure this would be a smart move for her unless shes more concerned with the overseas check vs the W. Even then going higher next season would make that overseas check way bigger for her. Hopefully someone is reminding her of this bc ive been hearing disturbing comments as of late ..

The WNBA "requires players to be at least 22, to have completed their college eligibility to have graduated from a four-year college or to be four years removed from high school.

"She graduates this year btw" *Rennia*

Rennia Davis has not hinted that she wants to go pro at all. Rennia knows she has the ability to do some great things at Tennessee and she has stated she is committed to getting better to be the person Tennessee needs her to be.

I've yet to see any media prints or Davis quotes saying anything different. The only thing that I have read/seen about anything close is she would be is she is eligible for the draft.

Bc she has not hinted doesnt mean she wont . Your not going to hear this in any media outlets as well as it could be a team distraction while the season goes along. Just relax and wait for her to make her decision . Her stating she didnt want to play post upon her recruitment to UT and yet Holly forcing her play there anyway this year is already a bad sign . Did Jewel Lloyd , Allisha Gray , Kaela Davis , Azura Stevens give any Hints they would leave early ? No so im not sure what you want on this one , just know its been discuessed . Rennia is aware of her options , not saying she WILL indeed leave but SHE knows she can after this season if all else fails .

Do we know already that Rennia will be playing PF this season?

Catch the media video's with her in them she said this "Verbatim" and also expressed how she was not pleased with it . Albeit not highly frustrated possibly due to being on camera but she said it out her own mouth .

Hmmm...interesting. I get if Holly doesn't want to start Cheridene and Kasi together in case both get in early foul trouble. I don't think Rennia has the girth to play PF, but we'll see. I suppose options on the team are limited with Brown injured and perhaps Collins not ready.

I agree about the girth , but Rennia is this teams best rebounder. The most tenacious on the glass .

So if she would have chose us, would you still not have wanted her?!?!

Like another poster said, let’s not turn into UCONN here, where they salivate over a recruit, but the moment they commit elsewhere, it’s
- We didn’t want her anyways
- She wasn’t UCONN material
- Why would she go elsewhere, Geno created basketball so why not choose UCONN

*insert eye roll**

😂
I think the author was being satirical.

Wonder what dawn's WNBA sendoff % is ? I know of Aja Wilson & Tiffany mitchell . Any other's make it and stick ? I wonder if kids consider that when looking at So.Car and not just the Team USA perk ? Not a shot at dawn just a curious fact to consider if i were in the recruiting process . I dont see Ty Harris making a WNBA squad neither . She's like a poor mans Lindsay Allen of ND and you see where she is in the W at the moment !

Alaina Coates
Alisha Gray
Kaela Davis

Somehow, I feel, she and her parents want a lot more for her than a few years of international basketball. Davis has way more talent in acedemics than her enormous ones on the court! She will stay 4 yrs and get as much free graduate school, and possibly doctorate schooling as possible. She is an extremely gifted student, and quite frankly, she and her parents are thinking well beyond age 30. Pro female players aren't set for life. She has the brains to make way more outside of the sport than international, year round playing, multiple semi homes, travel in really cold countries is not that glamorous. Even the best WNBA players have to travel and play to afford living in cities like LA, Chicago. I made well over 150k in Chicago, and I hardly lived the life of Riley. At worst, she transfers to s school with a doctorate department, it graduate department more toward her goals, and as she came here, as a college Junior already, I bet UT MBA program was a huge selling point already.

She wants more out of life than multiple surgeries and no work experience in her field when she is 30. People who say stupid things like this probably never finished HS. Seriously, she is dedicated to more than glory years of basketball for her life! She didn't bust her butt to get just a BA, or BS degree. She will make 6 figures outside of basketball one day, and it will be with a master's and probably doctorate degree. Making the pennies she will make in pro ball easy to leave behind. That is just the facts, real student players in WCBB stay for their economic future, and furthering their education to post graduate level is certainly on the minds of parents who let their kids do 2 yrs of college in high school. 60k in the sinking WNBA and traveling year round in barely first world countries, is not what her parents have in mind.

Tf are you talking about i have a masters degree so . Get out your bag and accept the fact that she may leave . Do you NOT understand she is on track to graduate early . Her parents would be upset why again ? Shes getting her degree , its people that say things like this who have NO CLUE or NO INSIDE information just ranting bc their all butt hurt . PS YOU DONT KNOW RENNIA's PARENTS lol creep

Thinking the PG depth for UT right now may have played a part ? I mean we only have 2 , but Evina is interchangeable , sucks to lose out on both her and cooke .

We got EXACTLY what we needed ! Key was rated on top fifty while playing a partial year her junior year. Let’s see where she rates at end of this year? Plus Saunders to develop.

We got Horston (WOW) another top guard ! That’s THREE top ten guards for the last three years!!! And Evina and Horston rated #2 PLAYER overall 2017 & 2019.... Plus Zaay and Jaz. Just amazing.

Can we continue to recruit like this ? Our team going into 2020-21 is at ten on scholarship. Unless we get a JUCO to come in 2019 ? What about another top ten guard? Just ask Zaay if her friend (Sarah Rogers ) from Texas wants to come on down ! Sydney Parrish a top ten guard from In. (Already 3 unofficial visits). Treasure Hunt from HH another top ten guard has been on our radar for several years! We could use another big. On the list are Kamilla Cardosa , Hannah Gusters, Gabby Hutcherson , ( all top recruits)
Want a wing? How about Angel Reese ?
All we have to do is win some games and the future is looking bright! Just Saying 👍

I said that in another post...that any PG would be nuts to sign with Tennessee this season given the stacked backcourt for the next two seasons...unless they weren't interested in playing much.

Rogers would see virtually no time for her first two seasons playing 3rd string PG, and may not see much as an upperclassman either depending in the 2020 and 2021 recruits. I'm not the least bit surprised she signed elsewhere.
