If Harris wants to play, she would need to transfer. Of course she may be content to practice, go to classes and get her degree. Really ashamed that she was recruited at all and last minute to boot.
I think what hurt Dunbar was her looking to shoot the 3 as soon as she touched the ball. Shooting your first 3 right off the bench is hard to do because you justbhavemt had time to zero in on your range. Shooting a couple jumpers or inside the paint will build up to more accurate 3 pt attempts.
Define adequate:
More knowledgeable of skills than she is?
Difficult to impress?
Personality bigger than hers?
Shall I go on..?
DD needs an "alpha" coach that demands her best while at the same time coaching her too. The one thing that you have to remember about uber talented kids is that:
1. You must always demand their best.
2. You must be consistent in your message, your philosophy, your end goals.
3. You must know your x's and o's and in-game/half-time adjustments. Once they find out you don't know what you are doing, you lose them. Heard a story that DD was asked by Calder at UNC on the bench during a game, "what do you see out there?" And DD was like "I dunno, I'm just a freshman trying to figure this stuff out. You the coach, you tell me!"
4. You must create a culture of accountability. If you stink it up on the floor or in classroom, you must be held accountable whether your are the 1st player or the 15th player and be consistent with it, making no exceptions.
5. You have to show them you can succeed without them. That the next "girl up" is capable of being coached to do their job and be successful at running your plays and philosophy.
DD is that uber talent and like I've said before on here, has not been coached since UNC until now.
Would wonder if dunbars percentage is artificially skewed bc has shot so few times that a few misses really affects the whole . I can't tell you the last time she was in the game long enough for the ball to touch her hands much less shoot if!! Seriously I bet her average is less than one attempt per game . If she were allowed to shoot 20x like the "big3" or even half of that I guarantee her percentage would improve .
Shooter gotta shoot.....
Yep. Bring back the Big 3, add a healthy Green and Te'a, factor in the incoming talent and the LVs should be a legit F4 team.
. . . . She rushed everything, passed up shots and always had one eye on the bench because she knew she would be taken out of the game.

Correct, not "ask" for ... Expect, and Demand.
2. You must be consistent in your message, your philosophy, your end goals.
The first time you aren't able to impress your Alpha player with the answer,,,You might get away with that a time or two, but you better do your homework,,,,because the next time it is sought out, you better have something for them.
3. You must know your x's and o's and in-game/half-time adjustments. Once they find out you don't know what you are doing, you lose them. At that moment I would have yelled to my assistants, you got practice,,,DD and I are gonna watch. And I would have talked to her from that moment until the last ball was picked up.

Well put

The coldest thing i can remember saying to a player that thought she had impressed me was:
"I built you and I can build a better version of you to beat you because I know your weaknesses"
And that's why she will never be one of the greats, no matter who her coach is....
I believe you're wrong.
