Mack Brown out at Texas

@YahooForde: UT AD Steve Patterson: "We continue to discuss the future of Texas Football. Mack Brown has not resigned. And, no decisions have been made."

Sounds like he's awaiting a reply from Saban, or for Mack to get back to town to fire him face to face.

You're the one who brought up the competition, not me.

Yes, the Big 12 would be easier competition and an easier path to the final 4 than the SEC.

The SEC as a whole is getting better the Big 12, he has 3 maybe 4 schools to worry with each year.

He has an indefinite contract at this point. No extension will ever be anything more than customary. At 62, how long do you think he'll keep going?

Long enough that Texas would gladly take him and I think his ego would love winning at 3 different schools.

That said, I agree, he isn't leaving.

@3HL1045: RT @Gil_Brandt: Just told by source Nick Saban in contract negotiations w #Alabama for extension in $7M/year range.

This was posted in another thread. I don't twitter

Saban let that leak. That way Texas knew up front what kind if money was being thrown around.

Texas isn't going to fire Brown and hire anyone other than a grand slam. Unfortunately, I think we set the standard they are looking to avoid.

Bama doesn't want a bidding war with Texas. They will lose, ans Saban might end up making $10 million a year.

I honestly think even $10 million a year for Saban is a bargain. They could probably pay him $20 million a year and still turn a huge profit.

Texas source tells me:
"Saban sitting on 10-yr deal worth $100M & 1% of #LonghornNetwork."

Yep. They're in way deep with Saban or else Brown wouldn't be getting pushed out right now. They're not gonna run Brown off unless they were sure that they would knock this hire out of the stadium imo.

Neither team is going that high. I don't think Texas will go past the $7M Bama has out there.
