Major Potential Job Openings Next Season (CFB)

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the UK loss kinda cement Dooleys end? Would be odd if a loss to UK helped see the end of Butch as well.

That game was 2011 though.

He made it through 2012. (Everyone was pretty high off the early win against NC ST in Atlanta, and actuality got ranked again for the first time since week 1 of 2008 by the UF game.)

The loss to Missouri in 2012 seemed to pretty much indicate he was near the edge of the hot seat, but it was the 42-18 drubbing by Vanderbilt the next week (in a game where Vandy actually ended the game by taking knees at TN's 10 to avoid running up the score any further) that got him fully ousted before season's end.

There was heavy talk that after that game Dooley tried to resign but Hart talked him out of it.

If any loss "cemented" Dooley's end, it would be Missouri the next year. Blew a big lead, then had the ball to drive for a winning FG and played for OT (loudest booing I've heard in Neyland), then lost it in OT.

But then again, depending on who you talk to, the Vandy game officially did it, because there was plenty of talk that had we upset Vandy (I hate saying we had to upset them) that Hart would have brought him back because that would have put us on track for 6-6.

And instead Vanderbilt beat us by almost 30.

Don't post much, and the school itself doesn't matter as far as signing a big name coach. But Norvell will most likely leave Memphis after the season. Obviously the thread is about job openings but look for Norvell to fill one of those openings.

We need to get Mullen before UF does.

I'm not convinced Mullen is leaving there. He now doesn't share Mississippi so recruiting will come back his way. And schematics he is great. We aren't going to offer enough pay difference to leave there if we had an opening. If I were you I'd prepare more for like the coach of Colorado.

And those people are? I mean with a proven track record of recruiting, coaching, and winning at a high level.

GREG SCHIANO... That guy will take a Head job sooner than later and he would win BIG at a place like Tennessee.. Great recruiter who took a bottom of the barrel program in Rutgers to a level that it had never been.. Significant NFL pedigree and current DC at a top 5 program nationally..

Those guys aren't looking for a job

I agree. The only thing that would get their attention is money and large quantities of it... Which UT has shown a preference for bargain shopping. Which means we are screwed.

Yep. He's gone. It's just a matter of who at this point.

And I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Scott Satterfield packing for better paying destinations by the end of the year either.

Lol

UT will be the last to fire and hire

The Admin will still be getting a panel together to discuss a list after all the other schools have filled their positions

Was about to say the same thing Count. Botch is axed, then a month later we hear Ut hires some search firm out of Birmingham who's owner is a Bama grad. And UT paid them $250k for their services

UCLA
Ole Miss
Auburn
Florida
Tennessee
Arkansas
Texas A&M
Nebraska
Mizzou

Ole miss is a major job? Will have real sanctions coming. Florida isn't firing Mac. Bielema isn't going anywhere. ATM is winning. Auburn is very questionable.

Well, its all debatable its not a fact, but as you mentioned, when he is already rather well paid... .its not like you are getting a bargain for the risk. The school would be taking on a considerable risk... I think that is why I go back to... there isn't anything easy about this.

I think the LSU situation last year was a prime example.... we're not talking $10s of millions we are talking potentially $100m+.... certainly one that could look bad for the school in that this is crazy money, especially if it backfires.

Man you are so clueless and continue to spew the same non-sense here daily. 100% of everything you say on here is wrong and baseless. We don't give shat about the opinions of an LSU fan who didn't receive an education past the 10th grade.

$100M haha wtf are you talking about. You need to learn how to balance your own checkbook before trying to act like you understand real money son.

Look, it's not our fault your bad leadership left you with ogre. LSU botched their situation, it does not establish that as the norm.

I'm not really sure I get the love affair with Mullen, he was a hot name then faded, and now it seems like people might be overreacting a bit because they whpped an LSU team that no one knows if is any good yet.

Maybe he would be awesome at a bigger school but he's been at MSU a decade.

Reminds me a bit of Mike Riley at Oregon State. People thought he was accomplishing so much with just a little talent. Got Nebraska job. How's that working out?

I think Mullen is a little better than Riley, but is he $5.5M a year good (probably how much it costs to get him)? Not so sure.

It sounds like you are very bitter, what about... I don't know... nor do I care. Its very apparent you do care about my opinion, which is why you decide to write whatever you wrote... I got to the second sentence and stopped.

Bye. (On ignore GRN1926) I know its killing you I put you on ignore.

Not a major gig, but coaching news

UAB's football program has been put through the ringer in recent years, and it seems the one constant through all the ups and downs could be sticking around for quite a bit longer.

UAB is reportedly in talks with head football coach Bill Clark on a contract extension that will keep him in Birmingham long term, according to college football insider Brett McMurphy. Clark's current contract is set to expire on June 1, 2020.

I'm really only worried about Texas A&M, Notre Dame, or Florida getting the coach we want. Notre Dame has been winning, so they are less of a concern than they were a few weeks ago. Shark ****er's buyout is probably too big to fire him this year. I think we are pretty much a push with TAMU, except the SEC East is a much safer pick than the SEC West.

I think we pretty much have our choice in coaches this offseason, unlike in years past. Don't screw it up Currie.
