My first post, though I read alot and comment some on others. So, had we beaten South Carolina, would we have been in the top four at the end of the regular season? I'm guessing no. I think the Trojans and/or Ohio State would still be ahead of us. Maybe not though. I'd feel better knowing we would not have gotten in regardless of the South Carolina outcome. Either way, GREAT season...GBO!

If USC and TCU win out there is no way in hades Tenn goes in before an undefeated big 12 and 1 loss Pac12 champ that hasn't been in before. Not a chance.

May have made in at 4.. I think they would have fought tooth and nail to get USC in over us if they win the Pac 12 Championship. I think, TCU, USC, UGA, Michigan all take care of business this week. It would not have been a lock the Vols get in even at 11-1....

Think of it this way, if August 30th I told you we would be 10-2 in the regular season and beat FL and Bama AND be looking at the Orange or Sugar bowl would you have accepted that outcome before the season started? This is/has been an incredible season for the Vols. I think I heard somewhere that this is only the 14th time in school history we won 10 or more games. Yes the loss to USCe hurts, but we will just have to destroy that team next year.

Absolutely! I’m in my 50s and obsessed about UT football in the 90s, taking all the Ws for granted. I cooled off over the last few 15 years, but this past season rekindled the old obsession a bit. Thrilled with wins over Bama, Florida, LSU and 10 wins!

You want to feel better? Yeah we screwed the pooch against SC, but many talking heads said that 8-4 was Heupel’s ceiling in year 2. Instead we finished 10-2 and were at one point the number one team in the country. We have some great recruits coming in next year. The players look forward to coming to the facility again, the fanbase is united, we have a coach that is loved by his players and staff, etc. I’m very pleased with the direction of the program.

And not sure even if we had one out if they would give us the nod over conference champs TCU and USC. Likely would’ve been Georgia, Michigan, TCU and USC. And tbh I couldn’t complain too much if that were the case.

If TCU and USC win their respective championships games, then we would likely still be out even with a win over SC. We would be an automatic lock for the sugar bowl tho.
