Manafort Trial Thread

The Trumpsters keep saying that publicly while privately rooting for Manafort so that, if he's acquitted you can screech that it WAS about Russia.

It's pretty obvious.

If you read this thread and some of your posts and the other the anti-trumpers saying that. Try to keep up with your own argument.

It don't have anything to do with Trump it has everything to do with unpaid taxes from undeclared russian income.

FBI forensic accountant Morgan Magionos, who the govt says did a lot of the work tracking money as it flowed from Ukraine, to Cyprus, to the United States is testifying.

Manafort’s defense that it was all on Gates just fell apart.

The federal judge overseeing the Paul Manafort trial conceded Thursday morning that he made a mistake in chastising special counsel Robert Mueller’s prosecutors a day earlier in front of the jury.
Addressing the jurors before prosecutors called their first witness of the day, U.S. District Court Judge T.S. Ellis said he “may well have been wrong” on Wednesday when he slammed the Mueller team for allowing an expert witness from the IRS to remain in the courtroom while other witnesses were testifying.
Typically, witnesses aren't supposed to hear anyone else's testimony in a trial so they don't influence each other, but Mueller’s team got Ellis’ permission during the trial’s opening arguments last week to have the IRS official in the court on a regular basis.
“This robe doesn’t make me anything other than human,” Ellis told the court on Thursday morning after instructing the jury to forget what he had said to the Mueller team about the IRS witness. “You’ve got to put that aside.”

A court filing from special counsel Robert Mueller signals that Rick Gates may be assisting the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election beyond the case against Paul Manafort.

Judge admits error in Manafort trial

In a filing Thursday, Mueller's team said it wanted to keep a discussion between trial attorneys and Judge T.S. Ellis regarding a question to Gates secret because the transcript of the conversation would "reveal details of the ongoing investigation."

She knew and was in on it. That is why.
There needs to be better delineation on these jobs. Bookkeeper and accountant are interchangeable. That woman was his tax accountant at a firm. I believe the bookkeeper was being lied to, the idiot on the tax side was afraid of pissing off a large client. She should have told her manager and kept going up the ladder until she found someone who agreed to cut him as a client. This opens the firm up to liability if other parties relied on falsified tax documents when issuing credit or deciding to fund loans. Career limiting move for sure.

While Rick Gates was testifying, prosecutor Greg Andres teased out what exactly it was that the former Manafort wingman had done to catch the charge in his plea deal about lying to the feds. Specifically, Gates admitted that he had lied to prosecutors during his initial interviews this year about Manafort’s meeting with an unnamed congressman. “Mr. Manafort met with a congressman and discussed a specific issue” is all Gates would say about the issue. No word yet who the congressman is, what they discussed, and, perhaps most important, why special counsel Robert Mueller’s team is so interested in it.

Mystery: Who Was the Congressman Paul Manafort Met With?

Anyone want to guess which congressman Manafort met with which compelled Gates to lie to the FBI?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say Nunes.
