I have a hard time believing he was this stupid. Because as I said way earlier in this thread, if he's telling the truth, then best case scenario, he's an idiot.

It's nothing I haven't seen on VN six hours earlier. I wasn't enlightened one bit.

I'm just saying if I'm going to read an article suggesting that Manti Te'o is gay on nothing other than a theory, then when you do post facts, get it right. It's that simple.

I'm just saying, again, when you put facts in your article, they give you credence. His was incorrect on such a silly mistake it's comical. Not a big deal? No, it wasn't. Still something that should be reported correctly, no? That's how we identify Ryan Lanza as the shooter, when it actually was his brother.

I don't want to stereotype here, but we have a devoted religious guy, apparently incredibly trusting guy, and someone who was shy to begin with. It's not like this is Cam Newton or anything.

Who is the only source? The AD? Bull****. Deadspin didn't get their info from the AD. He only knows what Manti told him, and manti has already been proven to be a liar with multiple lies.

I hate to be judgemental, but this is a total abomination and sign of what our society has become. I don't post often. I'm just a lurker I suppose, but I've kept up with Tennessee football and basketball since I heard John Ward announcing games on AM radio about 1967. I recently lost my Dad 11/24/12. He was a VOL fan also, and its been tough. When I realize that people value death in such a slap hazard manner I can't believe it. I realize I may get flamed, but what happened to the good old days of competition and enjoying the game. It seems that noone will stop at anything to promote their own agenda for personal gain or self gratification. What happened to the good old days when ORANGE looked good in black and white.

Here's what we know according to AD Jack Swarbrick's statements tonight: Te'o believed that his girlfriend was dead until December 26th when he received a phone call from his "girlfriend's" number telling him that she was still alive. The next day Te'o met with Swarbrick for nearly two hours on December 27th.

Couldn't agree with you more. Whether it was a sick joke(which I have a hard time believing) or a publicity stunt by Te'o, the entire thing is absolutely disgusting and speaks volumes about or society.

Which is why I said it may not be accurate. It doesn't change the point that Travis took the same premise and incorrectly surmised the statement. Until the facts come out, Swarbrick has been the only person with inside knowledge to produce a statement and therefore is the most direct source of information from Manti. Again, however accurate that may be.

I don't know what to believe. My opinion is this a crazy hoax and Te'o did lie to family about her (because, well, I've seen it before) out of embarrassment. Notre Dame basically stuck its balls out for Te'o, saying he was scammed giving some interesting details. I'm not saying that should be taken as gospel, but I think, at least to me, that means something.

I also cannot convince myself he would try to pull off the fact she was "dead." I could definitely buy the fake girlfriend bit, but killing her off is hard to buy.

There are holes in every angle to this story. Now the Arizona Cardinal is saying she is real after Teo and Notre Dame stated she isn't. Wtf?

You are correct. We can go back and forth on what happened, but no matter how well you argue that point, there is conceivable angle that can be parlayed into something else.

And it's obvious (if you believe ND and Te'o) that some girl was talking to him and had contact with him through telephone and the internet (I was surprised Swarbrick wasn't asked if they skyped, figured someone would get on that). So there is some sort of girl (if, again, you believe ND and Te'o). So that could support ND and Te'o.

I think he is just an idiot. A random girl can pretend to be another without conclusive evidence. How many people in theory are you going to walk up to and ask for identification? - Social Security, Driver's License, whatever that may be. The questionable part to know this person for a lengthy period of time and not figuring this out. A fake twitter account, pictures stolen from another woman, a voice, few meetings in person. It isn't all that difficult until people start asking serious questions.

I think people are trying to figure out wtf was/is going on, so looking at all angles.
I think you going off the road and getting edgy about CT misquoting or missing a date by a day is trivial as hell in this particular situation.

So I can do for the same with Clay with his articles, saying they lack credence and can't be taken seriously since he doesn't reports things correctly.

Possible, but I just want simple quotes/facts/etc. to be correctly used.
