Many scoffed at CBJ declaration of having the best staff in America

If u think this is the best staff please tell me what have they done as a complete staff that backs up your assumptions..

Def is better but not great. Special teams most improved
Off is not good n nothing on the off side shows the off staff is the best..

Have u forgotten the fla game n the qb play. I have other examples also.

Let's talk at the end of the season now its to early IMO.

Now if they beat bama I will agree

No matter how good a Kentucky Derby rider is, if he's stuck with a Morgan stallion instead of a thoroughbred, he ain't gonna win many races. Maybe 1 or 2 on a muddy track, in a pouring rain, and a foggy day, but not many others. This coaching staff doesn't have the right horses in all positions for an instant turnaround.

overblown. Of course Butch is going to say he has the best staff. He is instilling confidence and is an extremely positive coach. I really don't know why it's brought up so often. If you play, you better think you are better than the guy across from you or you are screwed. If you coach, you better think you can outcoach your opponent or you are already defeated.
If Butch comes in and says he has a staff that would be ranked @ #30 in the country, it wouldn't make much sense.

Look true evaluation of this staff want really occur in the 4th year. Cannot say it is or it is not. This first year is pretty darn go though but with each year they will have to raise the level at least a notch.

Right now we are in limerance with him and staff because I hate to say it we were like a bunch of desperate housewives started for attention or a bunch of addicts desperate for a fix. He is delivering at his pace with what he has got. I don't see him taking the gas off the pedal to get there. The staff is committed to his and their visions. They all seem to have chips on their shoulders in a good way with something to prove. Most importantly they are all on the train to get there.

Time will tell but with all the pieces in place and with stability in place I don't see any of these coaches going anywhere for 3 to 4 years or more until mission accomplished. The players and recruits are not just buying into CBJ but the staff and the total package.

It's all about family. CBJ has opened up the program to the fans and media and former players. This transparency has been the biggest step in everyone's by in to Volunteer football. Some of the younger ones need to watch this process and learn from it.

From ground zero to the top. When it happens it doesn't necessary mean it's the best staff in America individually but it does mean that this staff as a whole is a well oiled machine that has delivered versus giving lip service to a vision others talked about.

Improvements that we have seen this year are attitude, physical conditioning, freshman and walk ons starting. Players buying in, the return of former players, recruiting class standing tall, Neyland rocking again. Palardy playing like the recruit he was suppose to be when he got here.

Looking forward.

Best staff in America don't know yet. Best staff in America to pull us out of the hole, right now appears to be and I don't see us this staff letting up until we reach the next level or beyond. Too many perfectionist on this staff.

Jury is still out for some, I am sure, but the indicators are there and we just need to let it play out.

The TN program reminds me of bummer (although its an insult to compare anything Tennessee to anything Alabama) and where they were when Saban came in. He turned that program from crap to champ in 2-3 years. bUTch will do the same.

A few thoughts:

1. The "best staff in America" doesn't necessarily mean a collection of the best individual coaches. There is something to be said about a complete collection of coaches that preach the same message in the same way, share the same ideals and fully and absolutely support each other. The verdict is still out, but based on the general philosophy that Jones espouses, it seems believable that this the kind of staff he as assembled.

2. CBJ is the king of hyperbole. Couple that with his positive attitude, and everything is the best, great or outstanding.

3. The mantra he repeats regularly is "belief" is a powerful thing. Yes, his primary role is to instill that in his players, but he also wants and needs to install that in his coaching staff and everyone else around him as well as HIMSELF. It's just part of his way.

CBJ is the one of the most intentional individuals I have ever ran across. Every word out of his mouth is thought out and for a purpose. Notice that he'll repeat stats, thoughts, phrases, philosophies over and over. Sometimes his statements at PCs and the following interviews, etc are almost word for word. He even brings pieces of paper into PCs and reads points verbatim.

I do not criticize. I think it is awesome what he has done so far. It's part of his plan. It's how he does things. Obviously it works. He's instilled a great deal of belief in an awful lot of people in a very short time.

Sparty, have you ever noticed some people just aren't bright. This thread reminds me of that.

I have enjoyed going through game threads and the type threads that have bashed The hire and the staff. We have some fickle fans. There are so many it is unbelievable. Coach jones stated it is a process and without stating it that the process is going to take some time. We are ahead of schedule I do believe.

There is a lot of second guessing and questioning his decisions which seemingly have all been correct. This coach must know his players very well. He could not have scripted the 4th quarter on Saturday any better or the GA comeback.

It's funny, fans changing like the wind...bipolar.

OBTW, did I read that 3 of our coaches in the top 25 for college recruiters.

I was one of those, Definately feel foolish...

People just see things or are wired differently. I think that has more to do with it than not being bright. Some people just take things too literally, too often, and try to make something out of nothing, too often as well.
Every competitor at that level better think they are going to be better than everyone else or they end up at home. Every player better have the right mindset that he has the best coaches and teammates he could ask for. If not, you keep losing.
The mental side of sports at this level is underrepresented.

I think winning the GA game would have been better scripted. Just sayin'.

:)

Technically we did not but an inch more and who knows. This is the process of learning how to win. 20/20 hind sight I know we will learn from this...
