It remains to be seen what can or cannot be proven, but, if these allegations are true, they most definitely do not qualify as "small potatoes." Consider the following:
"Two sources tell "Outside the Lines" that the Texas A&M quarterback agreed to sign memorabilia in exchange for a five-figure flat fee during his trip to Miami for the Discover BCS National Championship. Both sources said they witnessed the signing, though neither saw the actual exchange of money."
The article speculates that, depending on what can be proven, there is a realistic possibility that Manziel's eligibility for all or part of the 2013 season could be in jeopardy. Up till now, Johnny Football's antics could be characterized as the behavioral equivalent of a chronic, low-grade fever. He is either choosing to ignore or unwilling to accept the simple fact that everything a Heisman-trophy winner does, thinks or says is subject to intense media scrutiny. If this pattern of behavior doesn't cost Manziel and Texas A & M big time in the here and now, it will, at the very least, give NFL scouts plenty of ammunition to red flag him as a "character risk" come draft day, and that will hit him in the wallet hard.
