Marcus Lattimore out for season

I hate if for the kid but like others have pointed out it was bound to happen with him rushing 30+ times a game. Here's to a speedy recovery.

Also, with Garcia being kicked off the team and now Lattimore out the South Carolina game just became much more winnable IMHO. Anything can happen but we have the potential to close out this season 4-2 and go 7-5 overall.

Wins:
South Carolina
MTSU
Vanderbilt
Kentucky

Losses:
Alabama
Arky

Reminded me of the Eric Berry injury this season - 2011 year of the injury I guess - as for him running the ball 30 times - what choice when Garcia was the QB plus it kept their fresh.

Spurrier had choices, he elected to sacrifice the legs and knees of one of his players, instead of using common sense. This isn't 1975, these DL and LBs are much much larger and much faster. There is absolutely no reason to be running a freshman like he was doing and this year wasn't too much better. It was just a matter of time, as others and myself have previously warned that Spurrier was going to run this kid into the dirt. It just happened that the kid got hurt on a play in which he was not running.

400+ carriers in 1.5 years for a 18-19 year is kind of stupid. IMHO

The kid plays hard and I hope his recovery goes well.

I get what you're trying to say, but his injury had nothing to do with his carries. He was a blocker in the wildcat formation when the injury happened.

Exactly. And that, a team, even a bad team, can stop.

Gameplan for UT vs. USC - make whoever is running beat them.

Gameplan for USC vs. UT - make Simms beat em.

Yep, and I'd feel good about our end of that deal given how our run defense played prior to Jordan Jefferson entering the game.

That was just a coincident, it was just a matter of time. IMHO.

I actually think LSU has been giving Ware way too many carries and he is 35 behind Lattimore and Lattimore didn't even play the full game. Average over low twenties and it's just a matter of time. I wonder how many millions it will cost Lattimore.

I thought South Carolina was the only winnable game out of the big 4. Lattimore being out just makes it that much better. I really like the kid but wow do they rely on this guy too much. That many carries and it was bound to happen.

Perhaps.

Hopefully, he can come back at full strength.

I would feel much better with Lattimore, but I still feel that every remaining game, except for maybe Arkansas, is winnable for us.

Florida with a healthy Brantly poses some problems...TN on the road is worrisome if you don't come ready to play.

You could easily close out 4-1...or you could go 2-3 or 1-4.

I'm definitely worried, I was just saying that I still feel they are all winnable.

The D is going to have to come to play big time, especially against Clemson and Arkansas. I think all the teams have looked beatable other than Alabama so you have a shot, heck SC definitely could still make it to the SECC.

SC could have it wrapped up if Florida beats Georgia on the 29th. I wouldn't look past the Vols, their D did play solid the other day despite what the final score said.

We need Georgia to lose again. We're not going to beat Arkansas. We need to limit our mistakes to beat UT and UF.

Lattimore and his family seem like good folks, hope he heals quickly and comes back better than ever

One could make the same argument about Bray sitting back there throwing the ball as many times as he did. It was a freak injury in the case of Latti (getting rolled up on) just like Bray's was a freak injury on that dude's helmet. I don't expect you to agree, but it is what it is...we depended on Latti and now that he is hurt, we are relying on a backup just the same as you are relying on Simms. Based on performances last year, I like our chances against Simms

Big, big, big difference between Bray throwing constantly and Lattimore toting the ball constantly.

except that Latti was hurt while blocking...not carrying the ball. They were both freak accidents. I would agree that a RB takes more abuse than a QB for the most part, but I was making the point that his number of reps had nothing to do with this injury...the more someone is in a game, the more likely they are to suffer a freak injury. Either way, I hate it for Latti and I hate it for Bray.

On the other hand, with Garcia gone I think it makes SC a better team. Sad to see what happened to Lattimore, it's part of the game. But the way Spurrier allowed Garcia, well to be Garcia, was a shame. Marcus is not just a great runner, he is also a great blocker. Conner Shaw looks to be your future but he's going to miss Marcus the rest of the season not just for his running ability - but his blocking. Shaw will have to be mobile.
