Marcus Smart

I'm on Marcus Smart side, fans these days just think they can say whatever they want and I don't blame Marcus for reacting in the heat of the moment.

Really so you are going to go shove somebody while playing a game because they lightly insulted you. You would spend a lot of time on the bench.

Just about the time I forget how things go in Lubbock, something like this happens and reminds me about that fan base. They get so offended when they're referred to as classless clowns. Then they go right back out there and prove the stereotype once more.

Its become a cultural thing and it's unbecoming.

Smart is the best player in college basketball IMO. Regardless of this year or last year, the dude is making major paper next year and will be a force in the league.

If the fan called Smart a racial slur, he should have his tickets revoked for life. Especially given his past. However, that does not in any way excuse what Marcus Smart did. You cannot go into the stands as an athlete. Too much can go wrong and very quickly. He deserves a longer suspension, IMO. 5 games minimum.

A lot of people tried to blow this up into a racially charged incident . It's really sick the lengths some go to make everything race related.

Just read this thread and you can see how quickly people jumped on it, and started acting like it was established fact he used a racial slur. And it doesn't even matter if it's proven that he didn't, which it's looking like it, that guy is probably been cemented as a racist in many people's minds. The guy is a jackass no doubt but being a jackass and a racist are two completely different categories.

While I am not condoning either action from the TT fan or Marcus Smart, I will say some people need to just grow up. I was taught at an early age the common phrase and understanding of "Sticks and Stones." Nowadays we have grown men complaining and getting all bent out of shape because of something somebody has said.

He is not even the best player on his team this season. Also, if he continues to have behavioral meltdowns (this is not the first and they are not isolated), then his stock will drop, and drop quickly. David Stern will make it quite clear that the minute Marcus Smart takes one aggressive step toward any fans (and, NBA fans are just as nasty, if not more nasty, than the fans in Lubbock who allegedly called him a "piece of crap"), he will be suspended so fast his head will spin. He'll make money, but the amount he probably lost by coming back this season is significant.

David Stern retired.
