Marcus Thornton?

Ramar was never a PG and everyone knew that. He was a 2-guard.

Tabb, Johnson, Jurick were all 3-4* players the staff totally missed on. You are telling me we HAD TO TAKE A CHANCE on Jurick? I highly doubt that. Same with Tabb. We had to have a 2* Guard with no offensive skills?

And other than Woolridge's one monster game against Kansas, tell me what else he has done. He lost his minutes a 6'5 non-athletic PF with absolutely no offensive game and deserved to lose those minutes. Please tell me how he is going to be a solid player.

And yet this staff has gotten us to the elite 8, and have gotten us the most and second most wins in school history.

Yes, and for that they are to be applauded. But their player evaluations have not been solid over the years.

- Trae Golden got the Sportwriters' Association Mr BB award - was 4th team Parade AA and averaged 23 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocked shots a game. He's also listed at 6-8 and 6-9 in different places.

Not saying he'll be pursued, or will be interested if pursued. But he isn't a project.

That is not Trae Golden. He is committed 100% to us. And he's a 6'1 G.

to whom I was referring. I mentioned Trae because - in mentioning Thornton's Mr Basketball award - I wanted to distinguish it from the one which Golden received. All those stats are for Marcus Thornton.

This staff could not be as selective before as they can be now. Woolridge grew a lot and may end up doing very nice things for TN.

Ramar had all kinds of physical ability he was just a murdering thug...

If they can be selective now, they won't take Thornton.

Guys I do not know that our staff has any interest...I think they don't. Jurick was a local 4 star...I openly laughed when we took him...he may have worked for the badgers but he can't run
He has to be the worst Pearl miss. There was pressure to take him. I am glad we let the newest chatt giant be Calhoun's problem.

Cothron has no game outside of 5 feet, is a project, and in no way would ever play the 3 in Pearl's (or anybody else's) system. He is strictly an undersized 5 in Pearl ball.

Its not like Tennessee was walking into their living rooms with the Power of Recruiting that Kentucky, North Carolina, Duke, or Kansas had. In the past we have had to battle for recruits and sometimes had to take what options were given to us. I'm not saying they didn't make bad decisions but given Power of a few other programs and he would choosen a few players differently. REALISTICALLY I wouldn't hold them totally accountable for all of those choices.

Johnson, Passley, Smith? Yea, I get trying to get those kids.

Yet we were already established when he offered Jurick and Woolridge.

And this thread contains explanations for both...

Jurick did anger me though. When you know something wont work and you just see it happen anyway...like watching people in Atlanta drive their Lexus SUV in 4x4 on snow...

Yea. I think if this guy is what we're down to, I'd just save the scholly and go after a better guy in the '11 class.

Absolutely. I'd really like to see Pearl land a highly rated big man or two, preferably 6'10" or taller.

Also, someone said in another thread that Kenny Hall has grown to 6'10". Can anyone confirm this as true or absurd?

I've heard it on a couple of other things, I am hoping that it is true.

If we can't get Cothron or Abraham (who already committed though) then just save the scholly for 2011. Pearl/Woolridge will be fine for one more year, and Kenny Hall will get better, which means more minutes.. Also Williams was playing 30 minutes in the Tourney, so we now know is conditioning is good. Tobias can play 30 also.

Minutes in big games could go like that.

Harris: 30
Williams: 25-30
Hall: 20-25
Pearl or Woolridge: 5-10 (depending on foul trouble).

I'd be rather surprised if BabyPearl only plays 5-10 mins. I was thinking in the 15-20 range, considering the circumstances. Who knows tho.

I hope to God you're wrong. I cringe every time BabyPearl steps on the court. He tries as hard as anyone on the team, but he's an offensive liability and can only do so much on defense down low at only 6'5".

I know he's taller than Chism (you can tell on the court) and Wayne is listed at 6'9. When he guarded DeMarcus Cousins, he was right up there, and Cousins is a legit 6''11.

Updated at 11 p.m. Monday: As expected, the colleges have been offering scholarships at a dizzying pace on Monday. Thornton’s current offer sheet consists of Kentucky, Florida, Texas, Michigan, Auburn, UTEP, along with the other four mentioned earlier — Georgia Tech, UGA, Alabama, and Clemson. Thornton is anticipating conversations with Memphis and Tennessee on Tuesday.

Marcus has already agreed to accept in-home visits with Kentucky, Georgia Tech, and UGA in two weeks, and still deciding among other schools.

AJC’s Mr. Basketball gets offers from Kentucky, Florida, Texas, Auburn, Michigan, Georgia Tech, UGA, Alabama, more (UPDATED) ** | Prep Zone: High School Sports

wake forest has 5 players from top 100 ,and their coach got fired they have a 6,8 and 6,11 player that may be available if pearl wants to give them a look, if i could afford to drive to prospects schools and homes i would show them comparisons of ut and their facilaties and the knoxville and east tennessee community.and ask they why would they want to go to other places ,ive been to every sec campus except arkansas , i like columbia a little and lsu has nice campus but they dont have the awesome community ,like k town and east tennessees ,lakes, mountains, great town with no gangs ,while lexington has horses and flat ground ,few trees, and white fences,ut has awesome facilities
