Marjorie Taylor Greene Receives Standing Ovation From Repubs. Dems Vote To Remove Her From Two Committees

She faced punishment only when the opposing party took power.
11 Republicans crossed party lines to support her removal from committees. But I guess by your statement you support a different standard for Dems than you do Republicans, otherwise, why not just call it like it is? And it's my understanding that she was just elected in this past election, so I'm not sure how action was supposed to happen before then?

Your justification is weak. If you're partisan, just admit you're a partisan. This board is filled with partisan shills. I just get tired of them pretending to have morals when all they really have is politics.

What he’s talking about is censoring the free press.

“Congress shall make no law... abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press”

That is what I'm talking about but if you are the press you have an obligation to tell the truth. They can spin it how they want but the press ceases to be protected when they violate the grounds they are protected under.

There is truth to this. Both should be censured, as should Mo Brooks for his part in inciting the capitol riot. Shots across the bow for the rest to simmer down.
As well as the laughing hyena when she offered to pay bail for rioters

Sure, but a lot of it is common sense stuff that is case law, the judiciary has done a decent job of determining the limits of every law... there are no absolutes. Sometimes we have to apply common sense.
I think a lot of interpretations are debatable. We've betrayed what this country began as IMO.

Fund raise like the other 534 members.
Pretty much. Congress does a whole lot of nothing. Members get their "prestige" based on their committee assignments, which is why Maxine should be punished by having her committees stripped.

Of course, if it happens, (which it won't) she'll shriek "racism".

The question is, when do they stop being "the press"? Claiming to be a journalist does not actually make you a journalist.

Definitely debatable. The press is protected because they are not supposed to broadcast "false or misleading" news. When they step outside those lines they cease being the press and have morphed into a tabloid.

I'm saying the press are just as liable as politicians and should be censored when they violate the trust that was placed in them to begin with.

thats the 1st time I've heard someone say that and I agree, you have the Candace whoever's of the world now on twitter claiming they are all journalists. If you only tweet, IMO, you aren't a journalist

Did I not say Waters should be censured? Strip her from committee assignment too, I’m fine with that. How is that partisan?

I don’t see anything about the conditions on the freedom of press in the amendment.

There is a difference between ethics and freedom of press. In this country, like it or not, you’re allowed to be a bad reporter. It’s up to their profession uphold it’s own integrity.

See: 18th and 19th century political campaign newspaper stories.

Haha! Good one. I haven't even really paid attention to her so I had to look it up. She's a piece of work. Probably ought to get primaried.

Edit: That said, Swalwell deserved the beating he took by her, but.....sounds like she's throwing stones at a glass house.

Greene has the spirit but not the mentality for this stuff. The GOP is like a flock of fluffy little lapdogs, and the dems are pit bulls. The GOP needs a huge infusion of people with the pit bull mentality - like Trump and Greene - but with intellect; grabbing a dem by the neck and shaking him until he has shaken baby syndrome is the only thing that's going to restore some sense of balance and civility. If one side has nothing to fear from the other, then they will continue to be playground bullies; once they understand fear, that changes things.

She's a POS and everyone should call her out for her nonsense.

Why single Greene out? She's just one of several in congress. Go after all, or accept eccentricities. To me the real argument is not her combativeness, but her logic, understanding, and apparent lack of intellectual thought capacity. The worst way to lose an argument is by failing to understand you have no real fact supporting your stand, and Greene apparently doesn't get that. However, the fact remains she's in good company in congress - do the same for the Waters, Nadlers, ...

Nope, bring back whips, canes, spittoons, and duels to congress. There's no sanity involved with behavior if there are no consequences; and as long as consequences aren't immediate and life threatening, then there are no consequences. Censure is a merit badge ... they don't even have to write "I was a bad boy or girl" a hundred times. If not for congressional bribery, why would being kicked off a committee even worry anybody? Remember Joe "You lie!" Graves; he was censured; and he probably received a lot of cred from the deal ... bad manners perhaps, but he was right. His outburst actually seemed pretty tame compared to Great Britain's Parliament, and dems love themselves some European ways of doing things.

Exactly. You are tribal in nature. The character and credentials of the candidates on the ballot are irrelevant to you. You only care about party affiliation.
No. Not totally true. She is calling out the ridiculousness on the other side and I happen to like that she has the balls to say something about it. In any other time people saying things that the D’S are saying they wouldn’t have been protected by the media and publicly lambasted. But now they say any crazy thing they want and the media’s response is Jan 6th.

Hey, I’m all for just flat out kicking them out of office. Career politicians have one central motivation, retain power. Take that away and you might have a little governance. It’s flat dumb that we can’t get term limits simply because of the career politicians that will lose out. They won’t introduce it much less vote for it, even in state houses.

Rulings have been made by the Supreme Court and state courts about false and misleading statements not being protected. I had the links earlier but too lazy to look it up again. The protection was never intended for media to misrepresent the truth. It's hurting the country badly.

Do we really need separate threads for every single conversation? Complaining about "thread topic" is really just a dodge on where the conversation has gone. Greene is an idiot. There's a definitive statement on Greene. Happy now? Like I said previously, I've always thought the Q stuff to be idiocy and said as much when it first erupted. I wasn't aware I needed to keep saying that. And she has been denounced. She was removed from all committee roles. I'm not big on screaming for someone lawfully elected to be removed from office, which is why I haven't called for Waters to be removed from Congress. I've called for the exact same punishment Greene has faced. Take away her committee assignments, and thus her power. Now, why don't you address that? Why should Waters not face the exact same punishment as Greene? Would that not be putting partisanship aside and holding members of Congress to the same standards? Seems to me, some are perfectly okay with the double standard, which is bull ****.
Yes. I am happy now. If you're gonna throw around whatabouts, you should be willing to opine on whatever you're whatabouting. (And based on your comment that you don't follow MTG, I could have assumed you have no idea she's a Qbert). By the way, your whatabouting can also be seen as a dodge on where the thread topic has gone.

Sure, pull Waters off her committees.

I don't follow MTG, but because you, or whoever, felt the need for a comment, I looked her up.

Glad my comment led you to look up the topic you were commenting about/whatabouting. If you're interested she also has insinuated that Sandy Hook wasn't real (and was subsequently placed on the education committee) and that California wildfires were created by satellite laser beams connected to the Rothschild family. 550096-youtube_0.jpg

Only I wasn't commenting on Greene, I was commenting on Maxine. Conversations evolve.

The person you are responding to has a standard as weak as water when it comes to politics.

Yep. You decided to evolve the conversation into @BowlBrother85 's thoughts on Waters and I decided to evolve it into your thoughts on Greene.
Not really, but I also didn't shy away from where you took the conversation, nor did I bob and weave and refuse to answer.
