"Counzo (Martin) did a great job, but they didn't fire Bruce (Pearl) because he had bad players."

Is Mark Fox a little jealous of Cuanzo?

What he said is sort of true. Pearl definitely had decent players . . . but he ignores the amount of production that left last year and the fact that there was only 1 returning starter.

Having seen a lot of UGA coverage, Mark Fox has always struck me as sort of an odd guy.

I can almost guarantee you that Mark Fox wouldn't have gone 10-6 with this group.

He has finished 5-11, 9-7 and 5-11 in the SEC the last 3 years. That's last place in the SEC East, 3rd place in the East and next to last in the entire SEC.

Maybe Mark needs better players or to coach up what he has.

Having seen a lot of those three teams, I agree. Fox is not very impressive.

Arrogant for no good reason to me. He'd fit in well at Candy.

I think he is a decent enough coach, but I think he'll take the first better job out of UGA if he can survive it. Their support of the hoops program is atrocious considering the talent that they can get in their own backyard.

These are the sorts of things a coach three years into a rebuilding project says when someone else new comes along and has success beyond expectations in their first year while he is languishing in 11th place below expectations.

Mr. Fox failed to mention that the two best players on the last seasons team decided not to return and even if Pearl had came back this team was still expected to finish as was predicted early on.

Mark is entitled to his opinion - good or bad. I sincerely hope UGA's opinion is to keep him as their head coach, because they are not very good and don't appear to be getting better.

We probably won't have to worry what Fox says too much longer. He might get lucky and make it through this year, but no way he gets through next. See ya.

I'd say it's somewhat jealous. He couldn't do half what Martin did with this team

The difference is Cuonzo is smart enough to play one of those players, Maymon. Pearl had him playing behind his son. That needs to be acknowledged.

Ding ding! The purpose of his statement probably wasn't to compliment or put down CCM, but rather to justify/excuse his own mediocrity.
