The best I've ever had (bourbon that is) is Pappy Van Winkle. Way out of my everyday price range though.

I can't stand the NCAA. I wish the colleges would defect and start over to be truthful with you.
And you will not find a bigger UT fan or SEC fan than I. But in this case the emperor has no clothes...

agreed this is ridicules

on the 'AA: got no use for them but in these two cases (Newton/OSU) they made rulings that favor players. That ain't all bad.

That said, I did go with Arky in my Pick'em so I wish the ruling was different.

but the players are the ones at fault. the osu players sold their gear and nobody can tell me with a straight face that cam didnt know what daddy was doing.

As I said in another thread the NCAA wants to give OSU at least somewhat of a chance to beat an SEC team.
And that's exactly why the NCAA is a joke of an organization. To defer punishment until next year is beyond laughable.

imo cecil newton was cams agent. cam wouldve (and maybe did) gotten paid along with daddy.

I disagree - I don't think Cam had a choice in the matter.

That said, I could see the 'AA still ruling him ineligible but in this instance (and based on what I believe happened) I think they finally made a good decision. The fact that is contrary to past decisions they've made doesn't change that IMHO.

Now, if they find any evidence that Auburn paid or promised money then I'll change my view completely.

Not at all. I'm pointing out that May is an idiot for making such a statement with Cam stuff THIS year.
Had he said something to the affect that the AA is inconsistent and that they have no idea when to or not to enforce their rules I would applaud him. But with Cam Newton getting NOTHING for his fiasco... well I think Mark May looks stupid.

The 'AA wants to protect their national brands. Schools like Florida, Bammer, tOSU, PSU, Texas, etc. will always get more leeway in their decision making.

As I said elsewhere, though, the 'AA has no interest in using precedence during decision making. The only thing they keep in mind is what makes for the best money-maker, i.e. protecting the national championship, big time bowls, etc. then they interpret their loosely worded rules based on that. Cam Newton is a national brand right now. If Pryor and the rest had been suspended, the Sugar Bowl and parties involved would have been hit for a total of millions.

Why do you say that? Tickets have been already sold and airtime scheduled for the game. I fail to see where the millions would be lost.

Ratings. Tickets might have been gone, but not sure about the refund policy, they could have been returned.

Then you've got an almost guaranteed drop in viewership -- think the advertisers are going to stand idly by and not demand a reduction in price for ad time?

I agree
OSU could suffer loss of sales for Pryor jersey's but it's not like nokia's going to back out as the Sponsor of the Sugar Bwl
