If I'm Arky I want those players on the field during the bowl. Win or lose.

The NCAA is a eunuch, castrated and controlled by the big conferences...big money...and politics, both internal and external. A classic example of an organization that is completely corrupted, compromised, and dysfunctional.

Most NCAA investigations last months, if not years. The Reggie Bush investigation lasted longer than most new sitcoms.

Then, all of a sudden we see resolution of the Cam Newton investigation, and "Buckeye-Gate", in a matter of weeks, if not days? And go figure...the rulings allow both teams to head into BCS bowls with their rosters intact, and their star player(s) eligible for the big stage.

What a joke.

Just watched the clip on youtube. He guaranteed that if it had been Ryan Mallet who did this, he wouldnt be paying in the sugar bowl. but "Ncaa takes certain conferences, specifically the big ten, their sacred cows, and they wont punish them..."
He makes a good point but of course its all about $$$$

Rules are rules and the NCAA doesn't appear to know what rules they are suppose to be enforcing and how to go about it. The NCAA needs to be broken up.

Would it taint your experience a little to know that Basil Hayden was UK's first All American basketball player? :)

Basil Hayden - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Not in the least. The State of Kentucky is known for many fine contributions to entertainment and comfort.....

- Race horses...mint juleps...several fine brands of bourbon...college basketball...and a beer barrel that's been in Knoxville for over two decades, and counting.

Just kidding...a little.

Merry Christmas, McCat.

Go Vols.

I agree with Mark May that the NCAA selectively enforces. But, he drew the line in the wrong place. They do not protect the Big Ten and Pac Ten, as a whole, any more than they do the SEC.

What he said was that they protect the Big 10 and are quick to bring the hammer down on the SEC and Pac-10.

He said they protect the Pac-10.

Anyhow, Cam Newton and the Buckeye's situations aren't comparable in the slightest.(for those making the comparison)

I can't stand the NCAA. I wish the colleges would defect and start over to be truthful with you.
And you will not find a bigger UT fan or SEC fan than I. But in this case the emperor has no clothes...

I wouldn't mind seeing this either. When it comes to logic, and the treatment of its student/athletes:
NAIA > NCAA

The NCAA was in part a creation of the federal government... I know how much people hate the idea of involvement, but all of this stuff does in some way affect the universities in question, and in many cases YOUR tax dollars in a very direct way.

IMO a reformation of the NCAA is needed at this point, for one making it a completely separate entity immune from any influence by the member conferences and institutions, and another to be granted some sort of power of subpoena.

Of course, with all of that, a thorough "job evaluation" of every single employee, that house needs to be cleaned.

on sportscenter, and I mean blasted. You could almost see the smoke coming from dude's ears. He was saying that if Pryor and Co. up at Ohio State would have been playing in the SEC instead of the Big 10, they would be suspended immediately, not after the Sugar. He said that the Big 10 and Pac 10 are the ncaa's "sacred cows". He provided examples of AJ Green and others. Sweet.

Not at all. I'm pointing out that May is an idiot for making such a statement with Cam stuff THIS year.
Had he said something to the affect that the AA is inconsistent and that they have no idea when to or not to enforce their rules I would applaud him. But with Cam Newton getting NOTHING for his fiasco... well I think Mark May looks stupid.
I tend to agree about Cam, but the thing is, the NCAA is saying the OSU players are guilty. No reason to delay the punishment.
