I was floored by that game. To see competent QB/WR play all game long from both teams was really amazing.

After watching TN/USA play... and then cut over to UGA/LSU... It was a very clear difference in speed, talent, execution, etc.

Anyone who didn't notice the difference between those two teams executing and Tennessee are being intellectually dishonest. They are at a level Tennessee is just not at this year unfortunately.

After 2004, 2006, 2009 and what almost happened last year, I think he's serious. UGA has a history of wetting the bed when favored in this game.

Should have won in 2011 too.. Even with Bray getting hurt, we still had a great opportunity to win the game.

What is his career record vs. us? Seems like it had been a pretty back and forth series until the last 3 years.

Just going off memory, he got Fulmer early. They won in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, and 2008. He beat Dooley all 3 years. So, he is 8-4 against us.

They do seem to play better on the road. However, other than a year or two under Fulmer, we seem to play them tight. Even James Banks at QB played them tough when Clausen was hurt.

And they have the additional handicap of enduring a loss. They can't afford to let up. BCS computers will force them to lose points even if they win and don't cover. If Oregon/Ohio State/etc win out UGA could be sitting on the outside even if they win the SEC if they don't beat the spread in every game they do win.

This game was a bad choice for Jones to bring in a bunch of recruits, honestly.

I don't know that it was Butch's idea so much. I think the recruits tell them what game(s) they would like to attend, or can make it to.

I agree. I also think that we seem to play better between the hedges.

At this point, most of us are just so completely beaten down.

We were watching UT get their teeth kicked in by Florida and Bama when most UT players were in middle school.

Most are just... sick of it. Sick of the coach speak. Sick of the meaningless words minced with lackluster performance that serve as a direct contradiction to the inspiring speeches in press conferences and interviews.

My dad's favorite saying was "proof is in the pudding". Right now, the only proof Vols fans have is 80 proof. And plenty of it.

Then blame the guy that hired Kiffin and Dooley.......there is a reason so many coaches thought this job would be so challenging....Give Butch a chance to get it done.

2007 too. They rolled into Knoxville, and we were on our heels after getting whacked by Cal and destroyed by Florida.

I was at that game and it never was really close.

I was too. Just a great game and atmosphere. Do I remember a Lucas Taylor throwback to Lemarcus Coker in that game?

I have been to some UGA games where we were not given much of a shot- 2004, 2007, and 2009. I will be there again this weekend. We will see how it goes.

Who is calling for him to be fired? I'm not.

I'm just not buying into the rah rah crap again.

I heard the same from Fulmer. I've heard the same from Kiffin. I've heard the same from Dooley.

None of them delivered. I heard the same from CBJ and then we almost lost to South Alabama on Saturday. This isn't about Oregon/Florida. This is about almost losing to a team that has only been around since 2009.

The talent/speed/etc excuses fail when a fledgling program comes into Neyland and takes us to the wire.

Richt is 8-4 against UT, and 3 of those victories were against Dooley. In his 8 victories, only 2 of them were "blowouts". 2003, which started with the awful ending to the first half when UT was about to go ahead and instead fumbled and UGA ran it back 90 something yards for a TD, they won 41-14 and 2010 they won 41-14. We blew them out in 2006 and 2007. The rest of the games have been pretty close.

I'm not doing a "I have a feeling" post, but in recent history Georgia doesn't blow us out, so I'm not really sensing an Oregon type beatdown.

If you thought the Oregon game was a beat down...buckle up. Georgia ain't going to let up.

They are one of the best passing teams in the country vying for a national title in an era where epic beatdowns are needed to put you over the top. If they can score 100, they will.

Georgia is no Oregon. They are very good and will put many points up on UT, but their overall team speed is nothing like Oregon's. I know it hurts everyone's SEC sensibilities to hear that, but I have never seen an offense like Oregon's. :peace2:

Also something else to factor in, Georgia is a rival. We have no rivalry with Oregon, so really there's no emotion there.

Again, not calling an upset or even keeping it close necessarily, but given all the factors, I wouldn't be shocked by us losing "only" by 17 or so. I can see us keeping it closer for a lot longer than people think.

I hear what you are saying, but there is a difference in S. Alabama and UT. They have a mature team, not a mature program, but their team is laden with upper class starters that have had consistent leadership from their first days on campus. CBJ is having to undo, retrain, reeducate and basically teach these players how to win again while trying to implement, yet again, another offensive system. There was a huge mental breakdown in the second half Saturday that led to all of us nearly having a coronary. It wasn't coaching, it was execution or more specifically the lack thereof.

I don't hear CBJ doing a whole lot of rara stuff. I hear him pointing out the positives in what his team is trying to accomplish, but what you don't hear too often is excuses or I will review the film etc... And you don't hear him tossing players under the bus. There is no comparison IMO to CBJ to any of the previous coaches.

USA won the second half 17-7.

That's exactly my point. UT was the "better team" and played a lackluster second half and turned the ball over multiple times. The result of that was a seven point victory that was, what, 7 or 8 yards from a tie game?

Coaches don't want to see letup until they call on the second string units.

Mark Richt wants his players motivated.

I will never feel certain about playing Tennessee. I realize y'all are challenged in many areas, but this game is seemingly always close.

Imagine how I feel. Im 18 and I only started keeping up with the Vols in 06, so I only saw two good seasons. Heck, 2006 and 2007 seem like the glory days to me. If I can find a way to stay somewhat upbeat I know you guys can too.

Imagine those who have seen Tennessee at the peak of the college football world only to see what it has come to now. I'm only 27 but the success UT had when I was younger is one reason why it hurts so much to see us where we are at now.

At least y'all got to see UT at it's best. Either way I'm just waiting for the day where the Vols will be back on top. Granted, that could be a while.

Of course they're not overlooking us. They've inked a big W right next to UT on the sked and will connect the dots right through us to the SECCG.
