This no yelling thi.g is catching on. Our youth leagues are looking into a "Silent Saturdays" idea that other leagues are doing. I think the selling point they're trying to make is that kids don't like to be yelled at and it will keep parents from coaching their children from the stands.

I've been on high school sidelines for years and that is definitely something that has changed. For a long time coaches yelled at players mainly because they were yelled at when they were players. The past 10-15 years though it seems like it has dawned on a lot of coaches that screaming at kids like a meathead is just not an effective means of leadership.

Having class and compassion is better than showmanship but I agree some yelling is probably neccessary for results in football. Unfortunately retaining his job will be based on winning in the SEC eventually. The next couple of years will be his determining time.

Dooley appears to be an ethical man, too. I hope the reason he left the legal career behind is he was too ethical for that job.

GO VOLS!!

Richt has always been this kind of man. Other coaches do the talk, Richt walks it.

Richt has been the same through the good times and rough times. I don't want him to suddenly turn into something that he isn't just to please a portion of the fanbase.

Kudos to Richt for that.

Now he had better win 9 games or he's gone next year.

It will be close to that but I believe he has to win the East this year to hang on, very possible IMO because the East will be wide open again this year.

Yep this little heart tugger of a story will buy him an extra day to clean his crap out in December. Must seriously suck having a dead man walking as a coach

I have to say that you win the prize as having the least amount of class of anyone here on this board. Congrats!

SEC football reminds me of the Roman coliseum. The fans want blood and settle for nothing less. I like coach R and his faith but if he can't give the fans what they like they will smear him with blood and unleash the lions.

He won't be. But we'll enjoy his Christian ethic while he's here. Thanks!

Nothing wrong with qualities that define us as people, but you would hope that these same fine qualities would travel well. They don't, for some reason with Richt. Players with the type of consistent behavior problems, Georgia manifest, should be clear evidence that many are not so enamored with the coach that they follow his "christian" lead of doing things.

Most of us have seen and heard players in interviews literally parrot almost word for word the coaches mantra on game plan, strategy, effort, as well as what's expected in ethical behavior and then go out and do it. I think this is part of Richt's legacy that he may not outlive.

Personally, "blackout" games get me more excited then this stuff, But the bottom line, people are a lot more impressed with what they see, then what they hear. And on football teams and life, it will matter most.
