Mark Shlabach "TN fans enjoy this season but"

Yeah if it looks like Tennessee is heading to 12-0 there could possibly be articles appearing about possible NCAA troubles by writers who don't like Tennessee much.
Perfect time to put that little nugget out there in hopes of hurting recruiting. My guess, we'll start hearing more conversations about possible NCAA sanctions.

Posting this here, just in case people need to hear it:
I don’t know if anyone has noticed, but Danny, Donde, and Randy Boyd are here to win. Not to win a little, not to win some, but to win BIG.

I’m not going to tell people what to think, but if you honestly believe our admin spent all that money doing the AA’s legwork, spent all the resources and effort making this place respectable again, did everything necessary to put us back on top, just to watch a dying organization sink everything they’ve built in the midst of its death throes, then you’ve lost your ever-loving minds. If they get anything more than the slap on the wrist that these other big programs (LSU, Auburn, Kansas) have gotten, then Tennessee will be the hammer that drives the final nail into that wrecthed organization’s coffin.

Just said on Finbaum "next summer when the NCAA brings judgment that Tennessee fans better enjoy this year. Which in insinuates a bowl ban or worse. Finbaum stated that Mark has covered the demise if Pruitt and has contacts in the NCAA.
They let Pitino skate so I doubt they'll do much to us. Now that we're such a hot item and bringing a lot of money to the league, I don't think Sankey will stand by and let them do anything to hurt us. Everyone knows what we've done to correct and make amends. The NCAA is pretty much toothless these days. Don't think we'll have much to worry about.

I remember Mark Slimeball being on Basilio like 20 years ago and he hated Tennessee even back then. This is the same guy that falsely reported that Sean Miller was personally playing players a couple of years ago. I don't know how he still has a job

Wtf is even the point of saying this? Just wants to rub our noses in it that we might be in trouble? Like we, the fans, had anything to do with it… our athletic department did the only thing it could do, fire the people responsible.

Incredibly dumb take, IMO. The NCAA is wobbling and it has gotten taken to the cleaners by programs that skirted the rules and did not do what UT did to clean things up and take corrective action. The NCAA has called in a model to be followed by other programs. Anything more than the self-imposed sanctions and perhaps a fine will be punitive to UT and will just encourage programs not to clean things up and just fight it out like UNC, Miami, etc. The NCAA, both to save itself as the governing organization and not to encourage programs to hide things and fight it out, has to be lenient here.

If that happens then the NCAA will NEVER get cooperation in an investigation again. It would be the stupidest thing they've ever done.
If Tennessee had acted differently concerning the Pruitt debacle, such as not cooperating with the NCAA, denying the facts, keeping the coaches, keeping the players involved, yeah, I could see the hammer hitting pretty hard.

Since Tennessee self reported, voluntarily gave up some scholarships, cleaned house, coaches, AD, players involved, as you stated, no one will ever cooperate again. I firmly believe when the final decision comes down, the NCAA will say they are satisfied with Tennessee's cooperation and no further actions will be forthcoming.
Dawgbach will be really pissed off when Tennessee wins on Saturday. However i wont be surprised if Tennessee gets hit by the NCAA with a 1-2 year bowl ban starting in 2023 and more reductions in scholarships.
I just don't see that happening. Tennessee did everything possible to show the NCAA they were cooperating with every part of the investigation.

One of the SEC’s largest cash cows just returned to the national stage with a boom after being in football purgatory for ages. There’s no way in hell they’re going to let the NCAA even remotely screw with that big orange money stream since it’s flowing again.

It's almost like he's conceding that his Dawgs are about to get their butts kicked.

Nope...Pollack has them all beat .
Pollack played ball there. Guys like Schlabach and Barnhart spent their professional lives idolizing guys like Pollack. Journalists, and I have spent my time among them, are the worst.

I’ve been in the room at SEC media days and guys like Pollack are treated like a god because unlike the sportswriters, he actually played at the level of their preferred university. You won’t ever see Schlabach pull a Brett McMurphy and openly question Kirby Smart. Guys like him don’t have the balls and he’s too stupid to realize that if Pruitt did have a case, that he knows where the bodies are buried in Athens as well.

Since NIL become a part of the rules, the NCAA has repeatedly punted or gone light on punishing programs over the last few years. Tennessee fired all the staff, self reported, has funneled a ton of resources into the investigation and according to the NCAA completely cooperated.

We might lose 5 scholarships at most. No way there’s a bowl ban. If Danny thought there’d be one or significant punishment of any kind, he would have done it in 2021.

And 5 scholarships can be made up with NIL :)

He's grasping at straws. Tennessee has put this year together with far less talent than UGA or Bama. CJH seems like he is going to be better at navigating the portal and NIL than Saban or Smart too. The talent gap is going to start closing after this year. They see what is being built here and they are terrified.

I watched that as well. He never said anything about Mark and NCAA contacts. He immediately expressed disagreement with Mark. Referenced the free pass Louisville and Kansas just got.
