Thought I'd get boomed for posting in the wrong forum. (got up too early )
I guess a little good news on the FB forum doesn't hurt.
Mods move if necessary.

Cal is a good coach...It is about Xs and Os and he is laden with talent at UK.

CCM has shown he can achieve much more with less and had the tougher road to achieve a possible 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th place finish in the SEC. All accomplished after players to the draft and an NCAA investigation. This has been a learning year for him.

CCM gets my vote because of doing more with less and having them in a competitive position going into the conference tournament with expections were low....

Martin has done a much better job than I think many people thought, but he hasn't done anything that eclipses what Cal has done this year.

Martin is a distant second....but that should, in no shape, form, or fashion, reflect poorly on him, whatsoever.

UK is probably going to finish undefeated in SEC play and probably win the SEC tournament. I don't know how you can't just give it to him by default if he does that

I see coach of the year as a coach who greatly exceeded expectations. Cal may be the best college basketball coach (in terms of being able to put together championship teams, so yes, recruiting definitely counts), but I think you could argue that Martin deserves coach of the year IF Tennessee were to finish with 20 wins and an NCAA tournament bid. I don't think that will happen, though.

Cuonzo...picked to finish 11th...looks like he will finish 5th = six spots above prediction

Cal picked to finish first; will finish first = zero spots above prediction

Cuonzo = COY

As the article mentioned, one team was the preseason #2 team in the nation, the other was picked to finish 11th in the conference. Seems like one team is meeting expectations and the other is exceeding them. Coach Martin gets my vote, though it carries no weight, lol.

I will have to say Cal. Just because this team that he has right now may be one of the best of college basketball. They are something to watch.

COY shouldn't be just because you've got the talented team and won the most games, it's about who has done the most with what they've had to work with. Martin should get it

If we were the ones picked to win the sec and we rolled through it like Kentucky you guys would scoff at the idea anyone other than our coach win coy.

Exactly what I think. He has done a tremendous job. Has to be Cal though unfortunately

look at it this way. if Cal was coaching ut right now they would be terrible. that guy gets the best players, but is a terrible coach. And how he didn't win a NC 2yrs ago with Jon Wall and the rest of those guys-I don't know!!! If QM was coaching ky this year they would be unstoppable, undefeated. This guy is a great coach.
