Haha, I live in Lex. As much as I do not want to like him its impossible not to if you are exposed to him. I DEFINITELY see a career in politics for him.

I have to disagree. I have watched basically every UK game and they have definitely progressed as a team and grown as players. You can not look past Calipari for being a factor in that. He knows how to develop the young talent that comes in.

Cal will get it amd as bad as I hate to admit it I can't be all too upset about that. I still feel CCM DESERVES it more though.

Yeah, I know...actually the award too me is misleading...Cal can for sure put together incredible talent...did at Memphis and he's doing it on a MUCH BIGGER STAGE at UK...but coaching??? I just dont see a lot of that taking place...Probably not a more talented team in the country...Why shouldnt he take basically a minor league NBA talented team and win BIG...But someone mentioned he's far away a better coach due to championships and all...We must clarify....Conference championships only...and remember most of those came in probably the WORST NCAA Division 1 basketball league of all time...CUSA...So, yeah we'ss still bating over this I guess..CCM has done a phenomenal job however with our Vols...

You're high as balls if you don't think it doesn't take coaching to make freshman - who are used to being THE one and only guy - work and play unselfishly together as a team... they are unshakable this year and are playing well beyond their years. No signs of being freshmen and they have great chemistry.

Plenty of teams have big time talent but squander it away or just don't play well together. The Cousins/Wall team may have been more talented.. but Cal has gotten these guys to really buy in and they have responded to his coaching.

Teague or MKG could have gone to another school and been the star and in the conversation for PoY in that conference... yet they play their roles and are overshadowed by Davis. It's not easy getting super-stars to play 2nd fiddle.

Cal will likely finish SEC play undefeated, what else can you ask someone to do? Go undefeated AND win every game by more than 10

I love coach Martin, but this is just a bad year to win coy

I think cal is shady, but recruiting is part of the game and job and SHOULD be part of the voting criteria so you can't use that as an excuse against him saying his players are just so much better. How soon we forget that UT's roster is littered with 4 star recruits and it's not some patchwork miracle that Martin was successful with this group

You obviously are not familiar with stance. It's Cal and its not really close. Anyone who wants to hold Cal to a higher standard because he has the best talent obviously is overlooking the fact that he collected that talent, and then molded it into a team. So what if they were picked to win the conference? They are dominating the SEC. No one else is even close. He is doing a GREAT coaching job this year. CCM has done a great job, particularly in the second half, but Cal has lost one game on an unlikely last-second shot on the road. No one else has a resume remotely close to that.

Cal isn't just a great recruiter. He's also a pretty good coach.
Everyone knew he'd have some offense this year, but his team has one loss because he's got them playing the best defense in the country.
His defense keeps them close until the offense cranks - and when it does they're gone.
Personally I don't see them losing another game this year barring serious injury or they beat themselves.
Best team he's had because of the emphasis on DEFENSE.
