Well let’s just take a lookFreeze, Malzahn, Campbell are three that immediately spring to mind. Napier, Chadwell also possibilities
You better look at that again. He is recruiting better than Dooley or Butch
Texas’s schedule is much easier than the sec. Texas talent is much better than coastal Carolina etc.Well let’s just take a look
Herman- .710%
Freeze- .663%
Malzahn- .670%
Napier- .718%
Chadwell- .528%
Napier is the only one with a better winning percentage, and it is only 3 years and at Louisiana. Your argument doesn’t hold water.
Lol, is there any other exception you want to quote? You said you wanted a proven winner and named off some coaches, now you are trying to quantify by the competition? Coastal Carolina and Louisiana play teams in their conference, so the talent is equal, they aren’t in the big 12. And I don’t want to hear the SEC schedule stuff, did you see FL and Auburn get their doors blown off?Texas’s schedule is much easier than the sec. Texas talent is much better than coastal Carolina etc.
Its more than stadium seating capacity being the issue. The boosters at some schools give money and stay out of the way. We have boosters that are more concerned of their professional football teams. And then when the decision to get a coach is made how he treats boosters and his image is more important than how he coaches football to our money people. For instance Mike Leach. Now I didnt want him but of all the hirings Currie was doing he at least had merit to the hiring. But the boosters weren't going to accept an odd bird like him so they brought Currie back. Its a huge mess trying to fix our issues. Coaches, athletic department and "friends of the program" are a huge problem compared to schools like Ohio State.Their is absolutely no reason why the Tennessee Brass did not hire a good coach after Fulmer was let go . Ohio State fires three good coaches and always spend the money to hire another good coach.
Are stadium holds more asses than theirs.
Just pathetic.
Instead we hire three dollar store coaches.
I have to say though, winning 31 games in Battle's first three years is one of the best stretches in UT history. And we should have hired him instead of Bill (milk and cookies) Battle. We would have got Johnny in his prime - with unlimited #recruits - and dominated. The first of UTs many coaching misfires.
His failed fake punt when we were ahead of Georgia cost him his job, as I recall. But compared to the litany of bad coaching we’ve seen lately that doesn’t look so bad.I have to say though, winning 31 games in Battle's first three years is one of the best stretches in UT history.
No, I'm not trying to rewrite history and I know the Battle left the cupboard bare, but that was an impressive stretch and a notch up from where Dickey had us.
What relationships had Butch Jones been “cultivating” with “high end talent” before he came to Knoxville? He had no problem signing top ten classes during his time here.
