According to Rivals they just finished 50th in recruiting with ZERO 4 stars. We are 14th with 8 4 stars.... Need to know his plan for fixing that. And that is with him getting nothing but love and Pruitt getting cheap shotted by elements of his own fan base. It is a legitimate worry.

Why’s it a worry? He’s at Iowa State, surely you don’t expect top 25 classes in Ames,Iowa?

As I’ve said he’d be my first choice, but we had our chance to hire him three years ago. Unfortunately I think that ship has sailed. He’ll likely end up in the NFL in the very near future. I thought that he might be holding out for Michigan, but with Harbaugh about to sign a five-year extension, that option looks like it’s off the table.

That should give you more confidence that Campbell could absolutely get the job done here. He's a freaking miracle worker. He coaches these kids up to play WAAAAAAY above their ski's. He has for years. And if he was at Tennessee this place recruits itself into the top 15 without a rock star coach. All Campbell would have to do is walk in a living room and say look what I've done with these 2 and 3 star kids imagine what I'm going to be able to do with you (to these 4 and 5 star recruits).

No one is going to recruit well to Ames, Iowa. He makes the most out of the situation he is in and he would be my slam dunk hire and I've said that on here for months. He was my #1 in 2017.

I’m not saying Herman is the answer BUT there have been examples of coaches being monumental busts at one stop then being good at others. Look at Orgeron for example. Still would rather have a more proven winning coach.

Fair points. He’s recruiting to Iowa. It’s like the most boring state in the Union. Just saying. Tennessee in many ways recruits itself.

I will bet you that Pruitt has the highest star to win ratio in the top 20 classes..... but seriously no 4 star recruits by a coach with the press he has been getting is troubling. Could be a real problem if a bunch of our 4 stars across the classes go to the portal. Has to be addressed by any candidate we are considering. Big holes will be big problems. He better have a pretty strong staff plan to share.

I don't expect to win here without them. Not buying the THIS IS TENNESSEE card and that somebody that has not been cultivating relationships with the high end talent shows up and they come.... this ain't Field of Dreams..... does he only get three years to get back to Pruitt level classes or win big without them? I would tie his buyouts to recruiting and/or wins.

What relationships had Butch Jones been “cultivating” with “high end talent” before he came to Knoxville? He had no problem signing top ten classes during his time here.

Hey at least Dooley had offenses that could score. Pruitt has more double digit losses than Dooley and Jones combined.
