if the goals are to win your conference and possibly the NC the last few years have shown it is possible at ISU. we just had a a top 10 finish and are most likely a preseason top 10 team. you might have a better history, but that doesn't mean anything going forward. todays recruits weren't even born the last time UT was really relevant.
Then some day, one of your fans will create your very own message board so you can discuss it with fellow give-a-shi***** 😴

did you even listen to that interview. or all the other past jobs he has turned down (including UT twice)..
Yeah? There’s one of Saban famously saying he wasn’t interested in leaving the Dolphins for Bama. Is this video going to be framed? How much sex you gettin up there? 😏

I applaud him for his tenacity in chasing success at a school like Iowa State, and when Oklahoma finally has a down stretch, he'll get that ring, and move on, talking about how much he loved his time there etc, etc...

My question, is that when he does so, will you continue to appreciate the brief period of relevancy that he brought to Iowa State, or will you be angry at him for not staying?

you do realize we have pretty much split the last few years with OU right it's 3-2 for the last 5 games. I am more worried about OSU as they have had our number more the last few years. and what would he leave to? he basically has complete control of the program here at ISU, where else would he get that?

Anywhere he chooses to go.

Another place?

without the boosters thinking they know how to run the program better.. (hence your current situation, or Texas, or Michigan, etc...)
Is that what’s going on at Michigan? I thought he got hired with full authority...and just sucked at it. In any case, you kept your HC. What else you need from this board?

It was something he stated and then did otherwise...stick with the goalposts
well if the multiple teams that have come sniffing or the fact CMC has been mentioned in just about every "big job" to have opened since he has been at ISU, yet he is still here doesn't say enough already then.. or how the couches he talks about like Snyder, Ferentz, or his head coach while at Mount Union Kehres, all guys who stayed put long term.

It’s something to be proud of...now what?

Campbell may be the hot name right now, and ISU the hot program, but let's keep things in perspective here. Personally, I'm glad he turned us down (twice), and I'm glad he's still at ISU. Why, you may ask?.....

- ISU has been playing organized football since 1892. Their trophy case is a phone booth, including the 1911 and 1912 MVIAA conference championships, and a split Big-12 North title with Colorado in 2004 (they lost on the tiebreaker).
- They have a 5-11 bowl record. Johnny Majors (yes, that Johnny Majors) took them to their first bowl game in 1971.
- Matt Campbell has a .556 winning percentage at ISU, with a 35-28 record. Hardly the stuff of legends. 35-28 is Butch Jones territory.
- But over the last 3 seasons, Campbell is 24-14, for a .632 winning percentage. So he's trending up.
- Beating a 4-2 Oregon team in a bowl game doesn't convince me that you're ready for the likes of Bama, UF, and UGA
on an annual basis. Congrats on the Top 10 ranking after the 2020 season. Right up there with BYU's '84 Natty.

So if UT backed up the Brinks truck to his door...allegedly twice...then whomever was driving that truck needs to be tossed off the Henley Street bridge, wearing a concrete flotation vest. I just don't see the King's new suit here. Good coach? Yes, just based on the havoc he has caused in the Big 12. Then again, it's the Big 12. But the right guy to take over at UT? Meh...better than some...safe hire...probably runs a clean program...wins 7, 8, maybe 9 games in a good year in the SEC. JMO, but he hasn't exactly blown it up at ISU, and it's a much tougher row to hoe in the SEC.

Coach Heupel may or may not return UT to its' glory days, but I think an unbiased comparison of what he has done to this point, compared to what Coach Campbell has done, makes it clear that UT made the right choice. Even if Coach Campbell helped them make it.

Time will tell if CJH is the right guy, but anyone, from anywhere, who thinks I have lost one wink of sleep over the fact that we got CJH and not CMC is completely delusional. But if coming here and crowing over the fact that your coach turned us down makes you feel better, have at it. When you get time, swing by the Ragin' Cajuns fan blog and show 'em a pic of your Fiesta Bowl trophy.

have already said our past isn't an indication of the potential future right now at ISU. just like your guys history has done jack squat for you currently.. and hell OU kicked the **** out of Florida in the bowl game. big12 went 5-0 there this year by the way. E$ecPN isn't as tough as all you SEC SEC fans like to think it is, it's Bama and a bunch of also rans really there. LSU got loaded for one year and then fell flat on their face.
Huepel just went 6-4 last season at UCF.. and a bunch of your fan base on here were complaining about the hire and acknowledging that you struck out on every potential major hire and had to settle. one took over a team that even we admit was bottom level of P5, the other took over an undefeated team.. the records show 2 different trajectories..
Hell go tell Georgia State all about your last few bowls.
but since I am sure you have forgotten what a BCS/NY6 bowl trophy looks like here you go..

Lotta words here when you could have just said "I'm an idiot". Same effect, and much less time wasted.

That's a nice trophy, for sure. Five bowl wins in your entire history. Wow.

What is it that they say? "Throw a rock...the dog that howls is the one you hit."

If you can point out any factual errors, I'll clean them up. The rest is a matter of opinion.

As for me being an idiot? Well...I've made my mistakes over the years. Some of them were really, really stupid. I just have this thing about fans of other teams coming here...especially fans of teams that haven't beaten UT recently (or at all)...and talking smack.

Did I use too many words again?

what does that have to do either teams recent success (or lack there of on your end) and the future? one team has been trending up for the last few years, the other in coach # what now?

It’s pretty clear you came on here just to pick a fight to go brag about picking a fight on Cyclone Fanatic. Good job. Really classy.

It's not that much of a feat to "trend up" from bottom-feeder in the Big 12 when there's literally nowhere to go but up. As for ISU's meteoric leap to the big time, and about that trophy you're so proud of...when's the last time a 4-2 team went to the Fiesta Bowl?

Yeah, 2020...the COVID year...like I said, right up there with BYU's NC. One year is a "blip"; two years is a trend; and 3 in a row is making a statement.

And UT has been trending down since 2007, with 7 of those years falling in the "flat-out sucked" category. We're down, you're up, and it is what it is. You're not the first fan of another team to come around here and chest thump, and you won't be the last. But eventually you'll go away, as they all eventually do, when UT is relevant again...and teams like ISU are once again relegated to the ranks of middle of the pack team in a middle of the pack P5 conference.

Hang on to Campbell as long as you can. Odds are you'll have trouble replacing him. Coaches who win 63% of their games are hard to come by these days. Just ask us.

we have been laughing about Tennessee fans thinking they could just pick CMC away from us during the search, like every other fan base has talked not knowing the history behind CMC.

You might want to give @Freak your emergency contact info so he can do a wellness check on you when Campbell leaves for a school that doesn't have a recruiting class ceiling at ~45th in the nation.
