It's not a good look for Mississippi and I am not saying that they didn't have some justification in doing so but the perception is they made a rush decision. They were heavily penalized by the NCAA and he kept them competitive in a difficult situation. Whoever takes that job will have an extremely difficult rebuild.
Only question is if he could build a team from scratch. Not questioning his abilities but he took over an 11-1 team. Repeating that record is admirable no doubt, but he stepped into a good situation.Appalachian State head coach Eli Drinkwitz would be a good hire for Ole Miss and he would be cheap most likely.
Having Arkansas and Ole Miss searching for coaches has to help UT with Memphis area recruiting.
Two of those jobs are vacant because their ADs said there is a lack of enthusiasm in their fanbases. Translation : not enough sizzle to compensate for the lack of wins is hurting the bottom line. I don't know who they will each hire but I can guarantee that both are more worried about winning the press conference than they are about being bowl eligible next year.I wont be surprised if the Arkansas,Ole Miss and Missouri head coaching hires are underwhelming hires that were done on the cheap
