Maui Invitational Game(s) thread

But on the bright side. Terrance Jones is one of the most complete players I've seen this year. He's a stud and will make a bunch of money in a couple of years.

I'm really not that worried. First of all, I can think of only one team in the country right now that could have beaten UConn out here in Maui. Second of all, this team is what it is at this point in the season. Young, inexperienced, and not very deep. If people were expecting this team to roll out a 20-0 streak, they are smoking some crack.

I remember reading some posts here about UConn squeaking through the first round with help from the zebras. I didn't see it, but judging from the posts, they were lucky to have the opportunity to capture the two big wins they picked up.

The officials absolutely did a hack job in the opening round against Wichita St. There were two game changing calls that turned the game upside down. Even "shadow defender" Dykes was enraged.

However, the MSU and especially the UK game cannot be blamed on officials. Last nights game was a clinic on how not to play defense, and not play to your strengths on offense.

I may be in the minority. I watched more than half the games in the tournament and my conclusion is we will be in trouble with UK and will beat UConn.

Kemba Walker is an amazing player. He was stymied in the brief period when they played zone. It was amazing and dumb to me that they did not play more zone.

If you look at the stats from our backcourt defense, I think we will do a better job than UK did containing Walker. I think we will see some pretty awesome defense coupled with strong interior play tomorrow.

Brandon Knight by the time SEC season rolls around will be looking like an NBA player, and T Jones? He looks easily top 5 and I do not see someone on our team who will be able to slow him down.

don't try to say this in the fball forum. i got crucified....no pun intended brandy pearl

The scary thing is that UCONN was projected to finish 10th in the Big East.

I kept thinking about that while watching the game. I understand they struggled last season, but how can projections and reality differ quite so much?

Well, we won't know if the projections diverge from reality until Big East play starts. If UCONN finshes in the middle of the pack, they are right.

Uconn winning maui, pitt winning coaches vs cancer, nova in the nit final. Not a bad thanksgiving for the big east.
