6.0 was complete junk, you go from 24 bolts on the 7.3 to 12 on the 6.0 while making more power. Ding ding ding, stupid alert.
The 7.3 can do plenty of damage to the heads, especially if you beef up the transmission before stacking programs. The 7.3 needs two smaller turbos on each bank running separately from the other. Upgrade the fuel pump, injectors, turbo(bw), and the inter cooler, and you have a 600 hp monster with 1400lbs of torque.
The 6.4s were a disaster mostly because of the emissions program set forth by(you guessed correctly) the usg
I've yet to see a 7.3 ale 600hp as a daily driver.
My emissions are deleted. It runs like a diesel should. Hence the hp and tq numbers, which in return nets me mpg.
The usg, is the one that is crippling the performance and efficiency of the Diesel engines.
Ftr, my wife's 04 f250 4wd, 6.0, lariat, CC has 290,000 miles on it. Original engine and tranny. Daily driver. Pulls a 3 horse slant. Full emissions still on the truck.
Maintenance.
OB or any other diesel experts.
Looking at a Ford Excursion with the 6.0L. I have heard horror stories about and been told to stay away from the 6.0L. This one has been "bullet proofed" EGR delete and new head bolts (I think). Anybody with experience with a "bullet proofed" 6.0L?
OP look at if you will use or need a full sized truck,if not go for a smaller one
look at the gas or diesel mileage,I for one don't for see fuel getting any cheaper soon,I assume it is going to go up,most likely big time too
