No. Wilcox allowed them 10 pts and around 217 yards of total O.

UT's offense and particularly Bray absolutely stank it up. Afterwards we were treated to Bray saying that the really didn't want to make a bowl.

The team as a whole was a wreck but Wilcox held up his end.... then got away from the rest of that crew as fast as he could.

I wish Chief would come back...he's a different coach now.

I know, he's had some serious athletes to play with at LSU.

But I also think he would bring serious talent here as well because he's had so much more publicity and exposure as an elite defensive coach at LSU...

Just a thought.

Talent in all 11 positions has got to be raised to a higher level or we'll never compete in the SEC like Tennessee football is suppose to. Tennessee defense was once feared....now its a joke !!!

This is one thing I agree with you 100% on I was a huge Wilcox fan. I actually thought that after all the coaches that bolted after that season that we may have been better off to have parted ways with Dooley then.

Sunseri hasnt been DC at Bama or FSU. He is/was a position coach, he was never over the whole defense like has been mentioned already in this thread.

And??? He is still an athlete and our staff had no clue he was playing til pretty much game time. Philips did a good job hiding that. The key part is the O didn't do its job and looking back at many losses we had during the dooley era u can find many instances where the O didn't step when it needed to to win the game.

Also, if the ref under the replay hood would have called the TD drive fumble we recovered on the sideline correctly it would be totally different situation today. U hate dooley so u should be happy with the outcome.

Also....am I the only one that remembers that KYs punter had one heck of a game that day???

Please no...please. No Chief. I'll give him his just dues but this guy isn't going to get you to the championship...unless its in spite of himself. He is now coaching his own recruits....and will continue to lay an egg each year..at least until LSU figures that out. Regardless, I'm for continuing to experiment, however bad that is until we find a winner. Sorry....LSU might contend....but it ain't gonna win it all with Chief. If they do, well.....I'll eat my crow no matter the taste. So far I like my chances.

Come on, that loss was on the offense and everyone knows it.

Bray and Da'Rick didn't want to go to a bowl and tanked it.

Tauren Poole pretty much said so right after the game.

That was the first game that convinced me that Dooley wasn't the answer....I wasn't impressed with Wilcox and his future as a head coaching candidate either...True to nature, I was back supporting Dooley the next season, Wilcox would have doomed us with another season of Dooley failure if he had returned...things tend to work out :closedeyes:

So pretty much having one of the best defenses in the SEC year in and year out is a bad thing? You do realize the only reason LSU is not going to win a NC is because of Saban right? Chavis has put quite a few guys into the NFL. Also it's not all his fault, he doesn't coach the offense and special teams.

So if Chavis wanted to be our DC next year you would much rather have a guy like Jancek?

It's confusing to even think about, and probably more so for the players. Even the seniors who are now on their 4th DC in 5 years.

Wilcox had worse talent available to him and had worlds better results over Sunseri/Jancek.

Look. Sunseri has been a college coach for 28 years now. He's spent 4 years at DC. Illinois State in 1994. Alabama A&M in 98-99. UT in 2012. See a trend? No HFC at any D1 school (except for Dooley's retarded @ss) ever offered him a DC position. Yet, he was an LB coach at D1 schools for 15 years total and an NFL DL coach for 8 years. No D1 DC job offers. That should tell you all you need to know.

Jancek isn't much better. If Muschamp is available, pay him what he's worth. Get a good DC and this program will be fine. Don't, and Jones will pay for it. I honestly think our Offense will be fine with Bajakian.

Sorry for the miss direction....my reply was more of a comment toward the quality of talent we have on defense not so much as who the coach is. Sunseri is blessed with great athletes at bama and fsu. So makes him look like at least he knows what he's doing.
