Maybe time to reappraise the Passing woes

You can’t adjust for everything. Our OC should have been able to find mismatches to exploit. Good gracious, as long and often as there are TV timeouts in games, our OC could dissect the last 15 defensive plays before making a call.
This is kind of where I am. I think Golesh is missed here due to the simple concept he could see and envision ways to exploit defenses and how they adjusted. He relayed what he was seeing to Heupel and checked or called the appropriate play. I don't think Halze has the same unique way of transferring information.

I feel like Castles has caught most of his targets but doesn't get many he did score a TD and he is fast for a TE. The only thing about Castles he's got 2 penalties this year on blocking one a questionable crackback ( UF Game) that negated a 1st down and a 41 yard gain and another holding vs A&M that negated a 1st down run & that one was ticky tack IMO. Warren didn't seem to jump on the pass that was in endzone that was just over his fingertips but he may have not been in the right stride to jump for it. My biggest thing is their both RS Seniors and we will probably have to go to portal to experience or be starting a raw TE next year.
It's mostly blocking that the raw ones struggle with. They can already catch the ball.

Let's not forget that bamas DBs are legit. They've been recruiting at an elite level forever. Our WRs aren't at a level that can routinely win battles against that caliber of defender. Any team...cough, cough.... UGA...that can man up on our WRs will give us no end of trouble because they'll be able to control our ground attack.
#84 had three chances on McKinstry and didn't come close to getting open. Squirrel is good in the slot, but we need some wide recievers. Recruiting is our biggest issue moving forward. We need to increase our raw talent to approach the top of this league.

also be careful what you get out of the portal...alot of times they aint that good, that's why they are there
I think this point is so underrated. Portal WRs can be huge gets—JMo at Bama and that giant at FSU come to mind—but even the big time guys normally have a learning curve or a production dip.

“Hit the portal” is an option, but it ain’t magic. If a guy isn’t lighting it up with his original team, he probably won’t immediately light it up with his new team. Some guys will, but most won’t.

I still don’t understand why in the second half we didn’t do the stop and go. We had the come backer all 1st half. Second half the defense was trying to jump the route. All we had to do was run a stop and go. As soon as the defender broke in thinking he’s coming back blow right by him. There was no help over the top on the edge.
You read my mind, even during the game I was thinking you're setting them up for just that, a curl and go. I don't think I saw them actually try it.
