Maybe we should focus on being a run-oriented offense.

Speaking of rushing, Milton set a new record for a single rush by a QB at UT last Saturday with that 80-something yard TD run. Considering what we’ve had with Dobbs and Hooker, that’s pretty dang impressive and something to be proud of.

VS a banged up slow afoot utsa.

I prefer the ole SOS offense.....throw like crazy early, wear the defense out rushing the passer and then turn to the run game in the second half after theyre tired.

I dont think the OL or RB are at the level to run vs SEC defenses that are set to stop the run. In fact, they couldnt run vs 5 in the box vs Florida

Feels like we only had like 6 possessions tho

Both Tennessee and Florida had 11 possessions. Florida had the ball 37 minutes to our 22 minutes. That is why it seemed like we only had very few possessions. They played keep away.

We actually had more total yardage, 387 - 349. We had 10 penalties to their 5. We did not lose the game because of the run game. We lost the game because we let them score 20 points in the second quarter and then had to play catch up. That gave them confidence. And there were a couple of key blunders by the referees. I know folks will say don't blame the refs, but they were at key moments when Tennessee had momentum and a chance to get back into the game.

You are NOT going to run enough on SEC Defenses to win games. The OL is not top tier. A&M , Bama, and Uga will shut that down, unless you are throwing it well. Teams are going to stack the box and make Joe beat them.
That’s exactly the point of this Offence! Bring a safety up and I’m good with Joe hitting 1 out of 3

I think we need to quit pretending like we know more about offensive strategy than Josh Heupel. We had the #1 offense in CFB last year and we have the #1 rushing offense in the SEC this year. The WR screens are a core component of our offense. They serve to spread the field horizontally, opening more holes for the RBs and they lure DBs closer to the LOS, so we can get behind them for long throws in the passing game. Nobody dials up more passing TDs than Josh Heupel (although Milton has missed several of them) and he does so while leading the SEC in rushing but we’ve got geniuses here that think our offensive scheme sucks. Smh

I often think some of these folks dont actually watch or listen to the games. The ridiculousness that is spouted on here regularly is just short of amazing.

In defense of our fanbase, after Dooley, Butch and Pruitt we've gotten used to the fans being smarter than the coaching staff.

There is no defense for some of what is being said by some. I truly believe there is some who live for chaos.

Yes we need more incomplete deep shots. 😒
Except it’s not one or the other. We could be passing it towards the middle of the field but for whatever reason we aren’t. Maybe Joe isn’t comfortable with those throws, who knows.

I really think Joe just doesn’t see those throws.

Ok we need more incomplete midrange throws lol point is they're having to do the screen because nothing else has been working well. I think they did better last week and hopefully they are gelling.

We are a run option/read option team - we just can't get the qb to run it - with one notable exception.
I have noticed Milton not making the correct decision multiple times on read options. However, it’s hard to blame all of them on him because against Florida I saw our line get blown up immediately and it wouldn’t have mattered if he kept it or handed it off. Hopefully he’s full go on Saturday and is able to run well.

I didn't intend to place all the blame on Milton, but to effectively run the read option the qb has to keep it a few times a game, win, lose, or draw. If everyone is crashing down and only worried about the rb - it completely loses its advantage and the defense has less field to worry about or cover.
