Hard to blame the kid for leaving since he done got a degree. I wish he would stay, but best of luck for mayo.

Laury is likely staying and if he goes Mayo is four or better depending on combines. Rivers, Connor are other two. Hard to see him rising above Rivers but he could beat others with a could combine, a high 40 time for example. The 4th linebacker in the draft I would think is always drafted by the end of the second round. I am not sure how he got the third round rating.

Brent Hubbs reported that he got a text from Mayo tonight saying he had not yet made up his mind.

He has a meeting with Chavis tomorrow.

my guess is that he's gone.

Yeah, I've gone ahead and resigned myself to thinking that both he and Arian are goners. Good thing we have good depth at their positions, so people aren't sour about them leaving us terribly high-and-dry.

Mayo hurts more than Foster imo. I think Hardesty can carry the load with Creer backing him up. Mayo was one of a handful of guys on D that knew how to tackle and that's going to be missed.

anyone sour about young men (who played their hearts out for UT) going to the NFL and making great money is not worth worrying about. Depth issues or not, it's good to see them go and we should all wish them luck.

The entire forum should agree with you here, but losing either/both of them is nothing near as much of an impact as if we lost any starters of our secondary.

If Hubbs is right nothing is decided, the KNS needs to quit trying to get the scoop and wait til the man decides.

Well, I wish him the best of luck, but I hope it's not something he looks back on and regrets.

I don't think he will regret it if he's drafted where he should be...

Anyone remember Jason Allen?

Now...I know he ended up in the 1st round but here was a guy who would have been a 1st rounder if he came out, he was talked into staying by Fulmer then he came dangerously close to not playing again...

I still don't think he's fully recovered from that hip injury psychologically....

I'm just saying that while it turned out okay for Allen...Mayo could suffer a similiar injury and not be so lucky

I wasn't sore towards Meachem when he left. And he really (at the time) left us hanging. But I know plenty of people that weren't happy when he left.

I bet Mayo is meating with Chavis to discuss whether he will play outside next year to help his draft status.

I just can't understand that thinking. He had the ability to make a lot of money and immediately take care of his family. I can't ever be mad at a young man for doing that.

No one said that the seat of a fan is an unselfish one.

I'd love to see him stay for another year, I think he could certaintly improve his status, but if he makes the desicion to go, I wish him nothing but good luck in the future....

Nothing but the best for this young man, has his degree, played his heart out for UT. Will be pulling for him. Opportunity of a lifetime.

Hard for me to imagine anyone feeling that Mayo cheated his team, fans, or school...he gave it all.

Best Wishes Jerod and thanks.
