Mays supposedly back for USCjr

Do you understand what it's like to push a 300lb man trying to run by you for an entire football game? Can you imagine what it will be like when that man KNOWS you've been hurt and your core can't possibly be 100%?

These are not children Cooper Mays will be facing. The nose tackle is 298lbs and he'll know dang well Cooper has been hurt and will try to wear him down, make his gut hurt, probably fall on his belly when he can and encourage his friends to fall on him also. Linemen are merciless because the job is thankless.

And, guess what, he's as young, if not younger, than Cooper and he's not been injured for a month and half. It will not be an easy day for Cooper Mays Saturday if he plays.
I push around 300lb men at the local Chinese buffet. Does that count

From VQ:

More details have emerged as sources confirmed to Volquest that Mays surgery was to repair three hernias and an abdominal wall repair during the second week of August.

With the triple hernia procedure in addition to the repair of the abdominal wall tear, Mays was given a six week recovery timeline by the surgeons. In the middle of this past week, was exactly six weeks since the surgery.

Sources also confirmed to Volquest that Mays is on track and hopeful to be ready for this week’s game against South Carolina.
I would like to see him play first half, possibly ramp up. But man, that position is so much about continuity...

Question with Cooper back at center, is it karic or lane at LG? Not sure if Lane is any better at that position though lol

I just had double hernia surgery and it’s 6 weeks every time, whether 1, 2 or 3. And the wall repair comes with as that’s how the hernia happened. I have 2 more weeks before my 6 week mark. It has to be tough as I’m sure he feels like he’s ready to go but the doctors are adamant about 6 weeks.
I had hernia surgery last year as well. I could have went back to work in four weeks but I chose to stay off five. It all depends on the surgeon and how well a person heals. My job requires climbing ladders and lifting heavy objects too. I haven’t had any trouble.

All the idiots calling him soft and weak can kick rocks. You look like morans now.
Oh BigOrangeTrain..please proofread before hitting the post button. Especially if you are going to call people names. Morans is actually spelt morons. It’s okay though. Just a couple of people noticed it. It’s not like you posted it on a forum for thousands of people to see.

Need him back desperately. I also hope the coaches see how bad our depth is at center/O-line and have a plan to address that in the offseason.

If he has not been lifting or running he should not play
Hard to see how he could be effective if he isn’t in football shape. I would think A&M would be more realistic but who knows. If he’s ready, that’s great.

I think the timeframe was 6 to 12 weeks?? I hope it is 6.
Call me devils advocate but if he hasn't played and limited activity. I am less than optimistic of jumping in a critical SEC game would be a good place to come back. So I almost would see if Cooper and the May's family would consider a medical redshirt and prepare healthy for next season.

Honestly having him back next season might be best case scenario for the trajectory of the program. That seems highly, highly unlikely though.

Haven't been keeping up with the day to day news about players health, just wondering about Mayes.

On the depth chart, coaches say day to day, Heupel is tight lipped...we'll no when the team takes the field to warm up.

I have had the same thoughts. Question for perhaps the experts on medical redshirt. Are you allow to play in ANY games and then apply for medical redshirt??

Hmmm, I just noticed that Cooper has never used a redshirt! This means for sure he would qualify for a regular redshirt and still play in four games ??

Really our 2 Center backups Ollie and Dayne ae both graduating and Cooper probably gone unless he cant get enough playing time to prove his Draft worth this year. I guess Addison Nicholls is not in 3 deep don't know what happened there but next year will be tough on O line unless big time Portals ready to play.

First of all I hope he is healed and not getting bcak before he is ready. That said, how well do we expect him to play when he hasn't played in any games this season? Has he been practicing at all?

Edit: I meant "real practicing" with "strain" and twisting like will happen in a game?

very little practicing. very little conditioning work as well. See how long he will be able to play..

he has COVID year if he plays and wanted to return, he could. He is not expected back no matter what.
