No longer living in Chattanooga, so I'm starting this thread for people who want to keep up with McCallie's football season this year, or to post updates on players of interest to follow.

So whatever you know or learn about this year's Big Blue Tornado and their prospects for another State Title, please share.

Gonna kick things off now with an oldie from Rivalry Week about 7 years ago...

Maybe Carson Gentle can pop in and provide some updates. Go Big Blue!
I've not heard his name mentioned in any reports. Anything yet on him in the Chattanooga papers, or sports radio shows?

Edit: I mean, read or heard anything about his personal experience since arriving in Knoxville, and how he's performing amongst that stellar assembly of defensive linemen.

I had missed this one:
gentles-first-practice-with-the-vols-a-long-time/

"Gentle made TSSAA history as a McCallie senior by becoming the first athlete to win team championships in football, wrestling and track & field during the same school year while also winning an individual title in wrestling. He gave it a go in track as well, finishing third in the Division II-AA shot put at the Spring Fling with an effort of 55 feet, four inches."

Big Week for the BigBlue.

Having watched Baylor on TV some I would say their offense is impressive and it will likely be a tough game for both teams. I thought M held back on MBA on a wet field and hopefully avoided injuries.
And a well done to Dr Eastwood on his excellent commentaries on the games. Really first class presentation considering he is a one man show.

Very impressive game by Baylor. Give credit where it is due. They are as good in the running game as you will likely see in high school anywhere IMO.

M had little more self destruct than I’m used to seeing. Will regroup I’m sure.
Once again. McCaliie and Baylor in the State championship game . Should be a doozie..

I heard one of the two great Baylor running backs was hospitalized earlier in the week and perhaps didn't play in the semi-final game last night? .

McCallie Blue Tornado repeats as Tennessee State Champion football team in 2024. Four out of last five is a great run.

Thrilling final championship game with Baylor. McCallie drove 98 yards in fourth quarter for the winning score after trailing Baylor 21-0 in the first half. Winning TD scored with 15 seconds left on the clock in the game.

Dang! Someone told me that game would be tonight! Was gonna set up my mother to watch it!

Hope McCallie posted the game video on their website or youtube site. I gotta see that!

I really thought they had no hope of getting to the state this season, let alone winning it. The players must have had an incredible journey of learning, improving, and remaining resolute during that first half.

There must be good lessons to be learned by other institutions on how McCallie transitioned from a HoF football coach to a first year football coach, and ended the season as champions, despite key injuries to start the season.

Long time coach Ralph Potter stepped down, and took on the defensive coordinator responsibilities, as alum Joel Bradford moved up from offensive coordinator into the head coaching position. Vol fans will remember his teammate, B.J. Coleman. Bradford had a stellar career at UT-Chattanooga, then earned a Masters in Christian Ministry from Liberty U. while working at McCallie and rising through the ranks.

They have won 5 out of the last 6 titles per the Tennessean.com story.

Great second half of defense by McCallie. Baylor had 289 yds of offense in the first half and only 66 in the second.

I had to stream the game on NFHS but it was worth the $12.
