McCarthy Logic - Weak Conservative Edition

Sure Russia is trying to influence our politics. But absent evidence of quid pro quo arrangements with individual politicians, where are you going to draw the line?

Interesting standard you got there. You might want to email that up to the GOP impeachment charade currently going on.

McCarthy is scheduling a vote on Ukraine funding. The House members will have to vote yes, or no.

Good. For any member that votes no, there should be an FBI investigation of any Russian ties, financial or otherwise.

You know Ukraine is taking foreign fighters and monetary donations. Take your dumba$$ over there and try some of the trench warfare you want to subject Ukrainians to. Put some action behind that big mouth.

“So to push now, to blow up all of the wins that you all have had now,” Bartiromo responded.

“Which wins? Please enumerate them,” Gaetz shot back.

“Ok, well how about the fact that he has set up a weaponization committee to investigate the DOJ, whether they’re involved in a cover-up,” Bartiromo said before cutting Gaetz off when he tried to speak.

“Hold on, hold on,” she continued. “How about the fact that he has set up the China select committee to keep China to account, and of course, he has launched this inquiry into impeachment, potentially for President Biden, is that not what you want?”

Gaetz argued “none of those things are deliverable” and that “these committees have done nothing to reduce inflation, they’ve done nothing to actually constrain the Biden government.”

Love him or hate him he is not wrong on this.

The best way to get nothing done and look good doing it is to form a committee.

No, no. Answer his question vs avoiding it with a dismissive quip. You want the FBI to be the enforcement arm of how representatives vote? THAT….is an interesting standard you have there.

Nope, he isnt wrong. Gaetz is very articulate in every interview on this subject. He is easily winning the public perception battle because the facts are on his side.

I admit I was engaging in a bit of hyperbole, though I do think we should be on guard for manipulation by Moscow. I doubt any are bribed. Meaning I would genuinely be surprised if they were. But I do think there are efforts from Putin to push narratives in GOP circles to undermine the support for Ukraine.

Gaetz has to seek votes from the Left to oust McCarthy because most in the GOP have donors who wont allow them to vote out a provably weak and ineffective Speaker....hard to figure why droves of voters left the Party while McCain and Romney got trounced by Obama. Then these idiots want to blame Trump for the weak 2022 showing.

We know based on the 2016 election and Trump's kowtowing to Putin that it is actively part of Russian strategy to engage in American politics. Many here, right and left, perceive the Ukraine situation to be an issue of survival for Putin. You really think it that outlandish that he's interfering in US politics yet again?
Obama second re-election comment of “more flexibility” need to be investigated or glazed over as great foreign relations? Hot mic comments > scripted hypocrisy

Putin has next to zero influence in America. You should post some of the memes that our govt said came from Russia influence during the 2016 election.

And any that vote yes needs to be investigated for their ties to Ukraine, particularly their ties to the oil and gas industry in Ukraine?

There was a guy that was convinced he had been dead for weeks. Couldn’t tell him any different. Family, friends, fellow VN posters etc. The dude just knew he was dead. The guy agreed to meet with a Doctor.

Doctor says to the guy, “Sir. Can people that have been dead for several weeks bleed?”

Man says “Um. Well no. It wouldn’t make much sense for them to bleed”

The Doctor takes a scalpel a cuts the man pretty good. Bloods just pouring out on the floor.

Doctor says “Sir if you have been dead for weeks, why is your blood gushing everywhere right now?”

Man says “Well I’ll be damn! I was wrong!!!
Dead people can bleed”.

Perfectly describes LG. So convinced by “his truth” he will always return to his original position, regardless of all evidence to the contrary.

Yep, I'm a Putin puppet because I want the slaughter of Ukrainians to stop through a peaceful resolution.
Alternative term is "useful idiot," which certainly fits if you think ending weapons shipments to UKR is going to stop the killing in eastern Europe.

Romney would have made a very good president--and I say that as a Democrat. He's a smart, sensible Republican--not some right-wing crazy or extremist. Not some idiotic redneck. He got beat by Obama because Obama was a good president, a charismatic guy and a popular incumbent. He also got caught on tape at a private fundraiser saying something dumb about the have-nots in America that the Dems used in TV ads and that hurt him, a lot. The GOP needs to ditch the rednecks and the crazies and get back to running decent, sensible moderates. They might win more--and the country would benefit. And, yea, the gangster was absolutely responsible for the GOP's '22 losses--and will be responsible for more losses to come.

Case in point....

So just because it’s going to go on whether we’re involved or not means we should be involved?

Why WOULDN'T we be involved? Russia is our chief adversary--have the hicks forgotten this? In their anti-Democratic/Biden fervor, they apparently have. Since when should we and our European allies sit around and watch Russia take over a sovereign country that wants to join the EU, wants to join NATO and could become, will become, a super-strong European ally? What about the importance of international law? All of our European allies know that it is imperative that Ukraine be assisted as it fights for its survival--no more so than those nations in Eastern Europe that were under the boot of the USSR---but we're supposed to do nothing?

The rubes and GOP crazies in Congress are weak on Ukraine merely because Biden is strongly for helping Ukraine defend and win this war. Many Republican pols simply exist now to oppose anything and everything that the Dems/Biden do. Fortunately, in the case of Ukraine there are a lot of Republicans who do understand the vital stakes in this war. Am I surprised that the hicks don't? No, I'm not
