I really want to see this guy not just succeed, but excel. He has so much untapped potential it's near ridiculous levels.

Some guys just don't have it physically and some don't have it mentally. Obviously Dan has the physical tools. If he wants to play next season in the pros, he will need to develop the drive and nastiness. He will be around other physical specimens at that point and won't last if he can't get a bit nasty when the ball is snapped.

Who is this "mythical", dominating, McCullers you speak of? I just see a large man that can only play about 50% of a game who hasn't "dominated" anyone. If he was so dominate, our LBs wouldn't have to line up in the middle of the field and could maybe cheat to the outside to eliminate the outside runs. Then again, I think GA ran at least 2 of their long runs right up the middle (not sure if he was in there on those)....probably on the sidleines getting oxygen.

Come on Coach, I think he got the message with the Govols article, no need to continue to rub it in his face.

I'd slap that heck of McCullers...even if it meant I lost a limb.

If it meant he would play angry and eat running backs all afternoon I would sacrifice myself

I don't think you'll ever get McCullers to play mean and nasty and the fact is he doesn't need to -- mean and nasty more often than not makes up for size or skill disadvantage or gives someone who is equal to another in size or skill an advantage but McCullers already has both the size and skill.

What he needs to do is play more consistently and aggressively go after the ball. Moving to a 4-3 will allow him to do that since he'll have a lot more freedom and this being his second year in the SEC also gives him a feel for what he's facing and allows him less worry about jumping plays. He's also got higher expectations placed on him for this season whereas his first year was more about him getting used to the job and competently doing his job (which he did).

I think he'll definitely rise to the occasion and either meet or exceed the higher expectations placed on him.
