I may be wrong but I seem to remember someone posting they committed to us and was never confirmed by UT and then they decommitted, this tells me they had an uncommittable offer at the time.I for one am ecstatic that they take who they feel fits the system and the recruiting sites ratings means less than nothing.Good enough for the coaches to take the commit then plenty good for me, don't give a damn if it's a 2 star or a four star. If the coaches aren't good enough or confident enough in their own evaluation of a player then we would have the wrong damn coaches, love this coaching staff.GBO

it just seems odd after 11-2 season, to take lesser rated guys when you're in on cream of the crop.

just interesting.
And who’d we take on the journey to that 11-2 season? Mebbe these coaches don’t want to mess with the formula too much…lest they end up with New Coke.

folks never learn

We go through this every yr. I remember last yr when everyone was like "is Leacock even any good? He's rated an 88, Gotta question this commitment" and then he ended up a top 100 player overall when the dust settled. Not saying this kid is that but look at the offer sheet. Thats what matters and he has a good one.
And more importantly, Leacock is getting lots of praise since getting to practice with the team.

“He’s one of the most devoted, disciplined leaders, not just in my secondary, but in my entire roster,” [St. Frances Academy coach Messay] Hailemariam said of Farooq...Hailemariam said Farooq has a well-rounded skill set that should serve him well at the next level. “He closes really well,” Hailemariam said of Farooq. “He can run-support. He can run-fit. Plus, he has an extremely high IQ to understand whether he comes in the box or whether he stays back. He can cover anybody in space. Plus, he’ll come thump you and hit you and give you a pop. He’s very multi-dimensional, so he can play in space and he can play in the box.”

After Farooq enrolled at St. Frances going into his sophomore year, Hailemariam said it didn’t take him long to realize that Farooq had a chance to play at the highest levels of college football. “You just know he’s freakish,” Hailemariam said of Farooq...“He’s getting stronger, faster and more explosive every day,” Hailemariam said. “Like I said, his closing speed is different, and that translates to the [basketball] court, too, in terms of the quickness and ability to move his feet and be able to get in front of some quick point guards and, around the country, the teams we play. That let me know that he’s got more to offer still. He’s always developing.”

I saw a Colorado offer. And a few lower level BG10. A PSU offer does nothing for me. USC offer is solid.

PSU is gonna have a DB selected in the top 10-15 in the draft this year. A USC offer for a defensive player means little now especially with Riley as the coach. Guy holds offers from Michigan, MSU, Oregon and OSU.

meh. slow defenses. just not that impressive to me.

Glad for the kid, but why no Southern offers. I hold ACC offers, and of course SEC offers in much higher regard.

I know we still have Dominic Bailey, but after Katron Evans and Aaron Willis didn't work out here, I was afraid the inroads we had established at SFA would've shut down. Glad to see that isn't the case. It's a good program to be involved in, like IMG. And like IMG, I'm fairly certain we've just now recently started to land players from there.
