Let’s continue to beat the drum……….
The only 11 win team (#1 offense) in the country from last year that’s not a preseason top 10 in the AP poll. Nah, no bias, move along.
No complaints from me. When you lose the quarterback and most prolific receivers from a high powered offense it's to be expected.

UT will most likely be in the top 10 after we beat Virginia and FSU gets Destroyed by LSU.

Lost a ton of production from last year, I get why we are where we are. I think it’s about right. Honestly figured we would we maybe a couple spots lower.

Ton is not the word I'd use as a team we look to reload. We lost Hooker who was great but we are replacing him with someone that won OB MVP and could be equal to HH or even I say better. We lost Hyatt who came out of nowhere to just show out , I think aided by Tillman having to sit most of season. We replace him with Squirrel who could eventually put up those numbers maybe not this year. Because we have Bru and Donte and Keyton. Our Tight ends are deeper than I've seen in a while. The running Backs are all back and a year older and wiser. I just don't see a ton , I see we put some guys in the NFL and to me we look like we have more destined for the league. Hang on its going to be a fun ride.

Didn’t TCU win 11 games? I’m pretty sure they won at least 12. That’s not even getting into the mid majors where a few did.

Georgia, Alabama, and OSU all lose multiple top players each season but never drop out of the top five 😬. Heck, Alabama lost their elite QB and don’t even really know who their starter is yet. Why aren’t they out of the top 10 if that is the rationale used to downgrade the Vols?

I don’t disagree with anything you said. I guess I’m just cautiously optimistic. I know we got plenty coming back. I’m excited for the season

I believe that in the past the pre-season polls were meaningful to a team. It helped them launch into a season.

Today, they're more or less worthless to the end result. They just stoke clicks and conversation. How many youtube videos have been produced arguing about rankings that HAVE NOT BEEN EARNED?

It is "nice" to be ranked to start the season. But just a glance at the pre-season polls from last year tell you how meaningless it really is.

Good post. Much of the season comes down to Milton being consistent. If that happens then they have a great opportunity to repeat or even better last year.

I think UT lost some really talented guys. They don't replace all of them in kind. There probably isn't a top 10 OT draft pick on the roster. However they do replace them with significantly more depth and cumulative talent. Hyatt is gone. He put in the work to develop great hands. He has great speed and ability to separate. Like you mentioned, he wasn't very highly thought of by anyone this time last year. Pretty close to being considered a bust. He's being replaced by two guys with similar speed. McCoy and Keyton are back and hopefully better. Just a few whispers... but it sounds like Nimrod and Webb could perform if called on.

Heupel definitely started with next to nothing and made the best of it. They managed a lack of depth last year and got to 11. What he's done to put UT in the position they're in right now is amazing. He has built a strong foundation with this roster and is improving it.

Many people here know that I have often argued against simply giving a coach "time" to "get their recruits", "install their system", and "purge the old culture". Heupel has made enough progress on all fronts while also showing himself to be an excellent game day coach that he has EARNED time and trust.

Honestly I think we may be a better all around team this season.
Gonna be a fun season no doubt

Meh. Sports media likes winners, and if we keep winning, it won't matter. A lot of the programs ahead of us are given the benefit of the doubt due to being consistently good. We keep winning we will be given the same.

It is a very fair ranking, if not optimistic. This team has a likely ceiling of 9 regular season wins, with a chance for 10 in a bowl game.
