Media Portrayal of Governor Palin

I can appreciate you wanting to vet Palin, but cannot remotely fathom the lack of standards you have regarding Obama, who would be starting in the meaningful job. The man has no executive experience at any level of any sort nor does he have any international experience. He actually responded with the fact that he has been a freaking community organizer.

the Times piece also brings up the now discredited meme about Palin's banned books list.

I know that you're scared of her TennNC, most Obama supporters are, but do you think you can find something that has merit?

at the very minimum, their past influence will impact many of his decisions, assuming he can make one (he never has you know).

that is an unfounded, irrational fear.

name one instance where either one of those guys has influenced his plank thus far.

How about Obama granting Hannity an interview? After all, Obama has called him out numerous times, one time claiming that Hannity doesn't have the guts to confront him face to face. I guess when you're all talk and no substance like Obama is, you can get away with things like that.

He also offered Friday to give $10,000 to Obama's brother if Obama came on his show. Why in the world would Obama not take that up? $10,000 isn't nothing to us, but to his brother he would be living very good over there.

dammit, he went to Harvard and edited the Law Review. That is all that a simpleton like you needs to know.

At least 50% of the nation does not know this. That is the only explanation for Obama not having 100% support.

are we really doing this?

"Ms. Palin declined to grant an interview for this article. The McCain-Palin campaign responded to some questions on her behalf and that of her husband, while referring others to the governor’s spokespeople, who did not respond."

why protect her? if she's gonna be VP, she easily could be Pres. What can you tell me about her to make me feel better about that possibility?
she has been the governor of a state in our union. She is a grassroots style politician, is conservative and is a true Washington outsider.

Obama has no exec experience, claims grassroots rallying that can't be validated (aside from silliness about raising internet dollars) and the Washington outsider label, which is an absolute lie. You're not asking us to help you feel better about his inexperience and false teachings.

that is beneath you.

you know good and well she's nowhere near qualified to be Vice President. It's a brilliant political move, b/c people vote with their hearts (which are big) instead of their minds (which are small and getting smaller).

But, hey - the media shouldn't be asking anymore questions - she's governor of Alaska, 47th populated state in the country - case closed!

Every single move he ever made in Illinois politics, which is the vast, vast majority of his pathetic experience level.

I'm not afraid of the past affiliations because they're unlikely to impact me. I don't think he's the worst political figure of my lifetime because he hangs out with thugs and thieves. It's the socialism, upon which he's getting a pass (especially from the economic viewpoint) that makes me hate everything he's about.

I don't think she's at all less qualified than Obama. Not one iota.

The stupid argument about the small state thing is just that - stupid. Our special forces generals are some of the most capable in the world, but they've spent their entire careers commanding really small units. What gives?

The press certainly should vet Palin. However, both media pundits and reporters have misstated her positions in that vetting. We've seen several misstatements in the press regarding her record on funding special needs children, her stance on creationism in schools, book banning, her stance on sex education, her view of Iraq and Al Quaeda's role, etc. Disturbing about some of these is their (press) use of "blog" material as the base of their understanding of Palin. The goal certainly appears to be expose her rather than vet her.

Vet her record but get it right -- is that too much to ask of the press?

Other than a striking resemblance to Ms.Davis the Varsity Blues teacher/stripper...I think she speaks pretty well with down to earth common sense.

Why is there some much talk on Palin vs. Obama and almost nothing on Biden. Is the Obama camp trying to keep Biden hush or something, im trying to understand.

b/c the Obama campaign is letting the media do its job on her - they already know him full and well - he has a 36-year Senate record and multiple presidential campaigns that have been scrutinized in and out in innumerable ways.

We barely know anything about her.

It helps Obama-Biden absolutely none at all to go after her. wait until the debates, and then play in the arena under fair rules.

The media knows Biden. The average person on the street knows nothing of him.

You know the same about Obama.

i've acknowledged there's somewhat of a risk putting him in the WH. A risk I'm willing to take given the past 8 years and the alternative. And I trust that he has an infinitely stronger grasp of the issues and the demeanor to lead the nation far, far better than she does.

There's a 1 in 3 chance McCain would die in office. That's way higher than the chances UT will beat Florida this weekend. And then we have President Palin. Is that what you all want?

Biden is boring and Palin is exciting. The same thing goes for the top of both tickets in reverse.
