Media Portrayal of Governor Palin

i've acknowledged there's somewhat of a risk putting him in the WH. A risk I'm willing to take given the past 8 years and the alternative. And I trust that he has an infinitely stronger grasp of the issues and the demeanor to lead the nation far, far better than she does.

There's a 1 in 3 chance McCain would die in office. That's way higher than the chances UT will beat Florida this weekend. And then we have President Palin. Is that what you all want?

anything that keeps O-Biden out of the White House.

1 in 3 that he will also means there's a 2 in 3 that he won't.

I'd be more willing to have a conversation with you if you could manage to write better than a 4th grader.

You're right, I could never compete with the ideas and thoughts you put forth in post 55.

Where does this stat come from?
I guess it would depend on whether he does 2 or 1 terms I'd be willing to bet that atleast 1 out of 3 people who live to see 72 do not live to see 80 but I've never seen an actual stat on that.

From the actuarial tables of the Social Security Admin - he has a 3% chance of dying in his first year. The life expectancy of a 72 year is 84.

If he makes it 2 years (only a 5% chance he won't); Palin will have about as much foreign policy experience as Obama.

Well this is completely unscientific and meaningless but out of the KNS obituaries of the people who lived to be atleast 72 that they printed the age 10 lived to be 81 or older while 4 died between 72-80 which is slightly less than 1/3.

One issue is the one term vs. two term issue. There is no guarantee that if McCain wins that he will:

1) run for a second term
2) win a second term or
3) keep Palin as VP if he does run for a second term

A second issue is the "on the job learning" that both Obama and Palin would face if either were to immediately be president.

If McCain won and died 3 years in (still unlikely), Palin would have 3 years of experience which would be more than Obama has now. What's the big deal about that?

The chances of McCain dying immediately are remote. It's a smokescreen to use the 33% chance card to try to scare voters away from McCain (who's using fear tactics now?).

the 1 in 3 comment is ridiculous. None of that takes into account the medical attention given to a president.
Additionally, we have the Dave option.
